10 miles in 69 minutes
Ugh. Felt like shit tonight.
I'm kinda done pretending like I have a shot at 135 miles in 24 hours. Time for Plan B, sub-3 hour marathon.

I'm at the opposite end of the spectrum running a 2 mile race Friday night. I'm hoping to crack 10 minutes.

Rest day after three straight days at the gym. Last night was a struggle all the way through. Packed crowd though, I was surprised by that.

Hit the gym. Felt really good. Now that I switched to a marathon, I'll be running fewer miles, but I'll crank up the intensity. Solid run, but I fucking hate the treadmill now.

Decent workout last night. My goal is keeping my regular gym schedule, if not a couple extra visits, between now & Dec 23.

Been busting out the free weights at home now. Lots of bicep work till muscle failure. Feeling good. Good bonus to all the yoga. My shoulders are feeling pretty mighty, folks. Strong core. Headstands. Sweating like a bastard.

Re: The Work-Out Thread
Just in from my ride home. Tonight was men biking in 20 degree weather. Shocks froze up, or close enough to it a quarter way down the hill. And after coming far to close for comfort to sliding out on unseen ice over a steep embankment I was a balls-less wonder the rest of the ride. Tomorrow's ride in is supposed to be near 10 with windchill taking it to -5. I have to be crazy.
Think I’m going to try being kind to everyone a chance.

3 miles in 33:11 with 2.81 of that running for 30 minutes
Then worked on legs after the run, 2 sets of seated leg press, 3 sets of leg extension, 2 sets of leg curls and 2 sets of calf extension.
I am once again wiped out

Ran in tights and a long-sleeve shirt and felt incredibly uncomfortable. I also got that burning lung sensation from running in the cold. Once I warmed up, it was bliss. 35 out. 33 back with a decent finishing kick.

Another good Saturday morning workout in the books. Finished off some left over chicken for lunch & now chores and maybe a nap.

Re: The Work-Out Thread
All weights today, 4 sets on chest press, 4sets on pec fly, 4 sets on ab crunch, 2 sets on curls, 2 sets in each direction on torso rotation, 3 sets on delt raise, 3 sets on rows and 2 sets on pull down.
No treadmill today but i was winded when done so i still got some cardio. Im gonna need to start with the free weights soon, but I've never really lifted weights before so Im intimidated by the free weights.

Re: The Work-Out Thread
My suggestion is start out with dumbells over barbells wherever possible and don't care about how much you are lifting compared to others. If the choice is better form or more weight, always choose better form. Three seconds going up and thee seconds coming down is a pretty good rule of thumb.Dr. Van Nostrand wrote:All weights today, 4 sets on chest press, 4sets on pec fly, 4 sets on ab crunch, 2 sets on curls, 2 sets in each direction on torso rotation, 3 sets on delt raise, 3 sets on rows and 2 sets on pull down.

Re: The Work-Out Thread
I will keep that in mind when i get started with them. My main issue will be learning what lifts to do to work each muscle, the machines all tell me what does what but ill kinda be on my own when i get into the free weightssurfndestroy wrote:My suggestion is start out with dumbells over barbells wherever possible and don't care about how much you are lifting compared to others. Re: The Work-Out Thread
I had no interest in going to the gym tonight, but went anyway and had a pretty good workout. Ran for 30 minutes and went 2.73 miles and walked for a minute or so to finish for a total of 2.8 miles, then worked on legs with 3 sets on leg press, 3 sets on leg extension, 3 sets on leg curl and 3 sets on calf extension.
Feel pretty good after which is surprising because all i wanted to do before we went was go to sleep
I think on my next long run and leg day on Thursday Im gonna stick with about the same speed on the treadmill (5.5 or 5.6 mph) but then next Monday Im gonna bump it up to 6mph and see how far i can go on the 10 minute mile pace, ill be hoping that 2 miles is pretty easy and i can think about 3

Re: The Work-Out Thread
Got an okay workout in earlier tonight. Some weights followed by a mile and a third on the treadmill. I threw in some plank work; hadn't done that in a while and holy hell was that hard.
That said my heart really wasn't into it tonight. If I can keep my regular gym workout schedule these next two weeks I'll be happy.
