Re: Fall 2013 North American Tour
Good observation. I think those tight rockers have tended to go in the first 1/3 of the set, to sort of lauch the "rawk". Now, they are going for the long journey and trying to pace their 50-year old bodies for the long haul.matt reeder wrote:I wish I could take your ticket...I'd love to see another show this tour besides Portland. It just isn't going to happen.
Incidentally, one thing I noticed looking at the setlists from this tour is how they haven't been playing a lot of their rockers as much. Stuff like "Hail, Hail", "Last Exit", "Animal" and others that have been standards aren't getting played much. I think they've made a decision to play longer shows and they are conserving their energy by playing a lot of the lighter, slower material.
I like it, it's just different.
In every way, they have truly inhabited Springsteen energy on this tour. I think their 94-03 years were their "Neil Young" years, creatively speaking. But in the same way they did a NY thing, they are doing a Bruce thing now, rocking huge crowds for 3 hours at a time.

I should clarify. I just meant it isn't in the nightly rotation like it has been leading up to this tour.broken iris wrote:I fo-sho heard fixer this tour.E.H. Ruddock wrote:No Fixer this tour. That is awesome.

I'm looking forward to this thread getting moved to Live and being retitled "Let's Talk About the 2013 Tour".
Anyway, I'm really liking what they're doing with the setlists this tour. The main sets and first encores are getting pretty unpredictable. It'd be nice to see them mix things up for encore 2 now.

Your little passive hints on what you want done with this thread won't work on me, Pete.cutuphalfdead wrote:I'm looking forward to this thread getting moved to Live and being retitled "Let's Talk About the 2013 Tour".

Hmmm... maybe.... I thought I heard a touch of River of Deceit during the Buffalo show replay on PJ Radio... maybe they are considering doing covers that aren't from the 70s.96583UP wrote: was that the beginning of "superunknown" at 5:30/5:31 ?

Re: Fall 2013 North American Tour
I actually think the setlists for this whole tour have been pretty structured. Its all felt like a new kind of routine:
Pendulum as the go-to opener for the most part, a few down-tempo ballads, Lightning Bolt, Mind Your Manners, then its a toss up until Sirens pops up, and Rearviewmirror to close the main set. Sit down acoustic second encore, Yellow Moon, more ballads, a few rockers then Porch with Eddie on the lights. Alive, Baba, Rockin' Indifference.
They're still willing to throw curve balls here and there, but some things don't feel as bold as they have in the past.

I might be able to get to an E-bow.

Ya'll be crazy. The setlists this tour have been excellent. Yes, there is some overarching structure to them, but it's a structure that works really well for the 'An Evening With...' concept and I like the way the new songs are worked in much better than how they were back in 2010.

Re: Fall 2013 North American Tour
they have been so good, i have no problem with there being some regulars every night, LB, MYM, Sirens, Porch, Alive and a lot of songs played very often as long as they throw in the few rarer songs every night. i think they have done a great job of making just about every night feel specialbroken iris wrote:Ya'll be crazy. I also think the reduction in the number of covers they are playing has really helped. It opens up space for more deep cuts.
