I don't understand the comments about their lack of placement on Lightning Bolt. Why not complain that they aren't on S/T? Or Backspacer, for that matter?
Well sure they should have been on any of the last 3 albums.

So much this.
But Brain of J was recorded on a previous album session but put on a later album. It's not like there isn't precedent for doing this. And clearly it would fit better on LB than Backspacer.
Yes, a single 15 year old example of a 2 and a half year old song being placed on an album later than its initial composing and released 18 months after the previous album certainly a precedent sets for this.

Springsteen does this all the time. If Ed's new idol can do it surely Pearl Jam can.

Tons of artists do this. It's not a stretch at all--it happens all the time. Some people were just talking like these two songs appearing on the next record was some imminent, highly probable occurrence, which seemed like a random conclusion to jump to.

Parting Ways and Betterman are two other examples. Of the Earth is another - that seems to have been seriously considered for three albums over the past 9 years. That said I think Cold Confession fits the Avocado album and Let it Ride is b-side material anyway.
While a Western guitar motif lost on the swings drum bass fusion, get your own thoughts into the subconscious often forgotten. "Pendulum" is a sweeping soul from the ballast.

Oops, I guess you are right.... According to that Italian PJ recording session site, Better Man and Parting Ways were both recorded during earlier sessions. So was Of The Girl, during the Yield sessions. I stand corrected.... That site has been pretty accurate it seems

Now, to the point of fitting on Avocado - Of The Earth was first recorded for Avocado, too, correct? Avocado could have been a much better album. Off the cuff tracklist -

1. Severed Hand
2. World Wide Suicide
3. Comatose
4. Marker in the Sand
5. Wasted Reprise / Life Wasted (guess it wouldn't have been a reprise, then)
6. Of The Earth
7. Parachutes
8. Army Reserve
9. Big Wave
10. Let it Ride
11. Unemployable
12. Cold Confession

And I guess Pendulum goes on that list above, too. It was recorded for Backspacer.

So that's four examples. I guess there is a precedent. Even Parting Ways went back two albums, (recorded during last No Code session). I was wrong.

Many sorries. Mucho apologistio :worthy:

Still a -little- stretch, though, huh? 9 years is a long time compared to those others.

But, really, I take back the biting wit of my response.

Spoiler: show
I'm trying.... To...... Apologize.... Really..... But it ..... Hurts...... So ..............

Much.....

I just listened to this for the first time recently. I wanted to wait until Lightning Bolt was well digested. I was very under

whelmed. I don't get the hype.

I'd say, give it a few more days, a few more listens.

It's because the new album came out, I've been saturated with new Pearl Jam. If these came out 6 months ago I would have been willing to go to the seediest corners of the internets to download them.
