According to the chart I am following, I needed to do 3 miles today. My legs are still sore from Saturday, especially my left calf, but I pushed myself since it was only 3 miles. Finished in 21:50. I know that's not record setting or anything, but it wasn't easy. I am supposed to do 3 again tomorrow. If my legs feel okay, I will try for 21 flat.
Good luck man.

10 miles in 70 minutes

Hit the canal with a certain determination to wipe the memory of Sunday's trail run from my brain. I had a PR within my grasp then blew-up and ended up walking the last mile of the trail. For this run, I focused on my form and cadence. That focused waned a bit as I came upon two rattlers on the way out. I resisted the urge to stop and play, but did snap a pic with the cell phone as I was using it for Spotify. Hit the turnaround in 35. Back in 35 with a decent finishing sprint. Nice run.

Well i was both discouraged and encouraged tonight, i did try 7mph and really struggled with it, i was hurting both in my legs and with breathing by the half mile mark but i made it to about 1.15 before i was about to Fall off the back of the of the treadmill  , the good thing was that instead of slowing to a walk i just dropped down to 6mph and managed to stick it out to the 2 mile mark and even bumped back up to 7mph for the final .12 which got me there in 18 minutes and 14 seconds.
I didn't think 7 mph would be that tough, but DAMN

oh, jesus christ, i'm glad i live in minnesota. i'd never leave the house if running into that shit was possible.
scheduled to go 3 miles again today. i wanted to finish in 21 minutes and wound up at 21:06. i'll be dialing back the speed a bit as the distances increase, but i do enjoy stretching my lungs out a bit. it feels like progress.

I have a feeling your progress is gonna be pretty substantial. You seem to have already hit or are gonna hit that "I'm better than I ever thought I would be" stage, which is fantastic to go through and to watch from the sidelines.
Keep it up, bro. I'm already planning your second marathon, which I see as a BQ attempt.

Daft - How you enjoying starting marathon training in 5 degree weather? I dislike running in cold winter weather but i also hate the treadmill. My daily dilemmas.

I checked out a trail the other day. It's about 2 miles worth of easy-ish terrain. Maybe a bit more technical in a couple of spots for mountain biking. Just my speed though. Slow speed. LOL.

well, i thought i was just gonna go easy tonight, but had some work issues that pissed me off so i had some aggression to get out, so i started on 7mph again and made it to 1.3 miles before slowing to 6mph until i made it to 1.86 and i went back to 7mph to finish with 2 miles in 17minutes and 57 seconds

i hope you're right about the first thing. i think about this thread every time i run. i have a wife, children, colleagues, and friends, but none of them are keeping me accountable because i don't talk about this with them. reading about the accomplishments of the regulars in this thread help a lot. today i had to run 5. i ran the first 4 in 30 minutes, and then i did the last mile in 7 minutes. i wanted to quit that final mile pace (6:58) by the halfway point, but my honest thought was, "then i won't be able to post that i ran 5 miles in 37 minutes."

i'm with you on the snakes. i think there is a den of garden snakes living in my back patio. 2 falls ago, i had 3 in my house over a 4 day span. not a goddam day has gone by since then that i haven't thought about it. if i could afford it, i'd move.

as to the training, i'm exclusively on the treadmill until the weather warms and the running paths are clear of ice. i don't hate the treadmill. since having kids, running is the only time i get to listen to music. at the moment, soundgarden deserves a lot of credit for my progress. also, i like people watching. but i am champing at the bit to get outside. i don't live far from battle creek. love running there.

i looked at that stuff also, i thought i had been running for over a month now, but i guess im right at it, and my first time on the treadmill was a 16 minute mile
im not sure how i would do running any of the ones they have around here because there really isnt any flat ground here, its all hills, so i dont know how i would do with that. but if i do get up in the 5 to 10 mile range at some point then im gonna have to try out a race

3 miles today. 20:55. Almost a minute faster than Monday.
Supposed to do 3 tomorrow, 5 Saturday, and 8 Sunday. Don't think I'll have a chance to run this weekend, though, so I'll do the 8 tomorrow. I'm hoping to finish in an hour.
