They still love playing music with one another. I still am not quite sure Sonic Youth is done. Maybe they just needed some time apart?

Or an opportunity to play together without the guitarist's recently estranged wife onstage.

I wouldn't say that I expect more Sonic Youth activity one day but I wouldn't necessarily be surprised if it happens either.

They did manage to make it through a whole South American tour shortly after Thurston and Kim's split became public, I can't imagine it could get any more awkward than that.

From what I've read, the band seems pretty open-ended about the whole thing; I think Lee's most recent answer was (roughly) that more SY certainly could happen one day but the question hasn't really arisen since they're all committed to their own projects currently.

Is it wrong that I hope SY and Fugazi reunite, and that they tour together?

Earlier tonight I pumped ''Sonic Nurse'' and ''Rather Ripped'' while mowing the lawn. Between the feedback and the mower motor, whole lotta righteous noise going on.

T-Bone's new LP is available to pre-order.
http://store.matadorrecords.com/the-best-day

The Best Day, Thurston Moore’s first solo record since 2010’s Demolished Thoughts, will be released on October 21, 2014 on Matador Records. Backed by James Sedwards of Nought (guitar), Deb Googe of My Bloody Valentine (bass) and Steve Shelley of Sonic Youth (drums), the album radiates with both his signature thrashing electric guitars as well as blissful 12-string acoustic ballads.

1. Speak To The Wild
2. Forevermore
3. Tape
4. The Best Day
5. Detonation
6. Vocabularies
7. Grace Lake
8. Germs Burn

Bought this last night.

After being underwhelmed by Thurston's post-SY records to date (even Ranaldo's haven't been as essential as I'd hoped), this is refreshingly solid.

Any fans of mid-00s Sonic Youth would find this very enjoyable, I'd imagine.

I'd suggest either Goo or Dirty as a good starting point.
