Re: NHL Thread
I thought Neal's was appropriate, and I'm not saying Thornton shouldn't receive a lengthy suspension, I just thought he might have been cut a little more slack. Generally, I think Shanahan does a great job.

NHLers delivering headshots just don't seem to care about suspensions or have any respect for their fellow players if they are still headshotting each other

The hit on Goligoski was pretty ridiculous.

I love how 80% of this thread is talking about suspensions and possible suspensions

So the Leafs have been in a bit of a tough spot with injuries to Bozak and Bolland destroying what was already a weakness down the middle. That being said, the Pens had Zolnierczyk-Jokinen-Megna as their second line at practice today. Yikes.

I was at the Vancouver vs Boston game on Saturday. First of all, great atmosphere and decent game considering the score. But Canuck fans took way too much joy in a regular season win against a team a full 6 players short, battling a flu bug at the end of a cross country road trip. Full value for the Vancouver but the fans acted like they won the cup. I had to ask one fan getting in my face if she celebrates when she masturbates.philpritchard wrote:So the Leafs have been in a bit of a tough spot with injuries to Bozak and Bolland destroying what was already a weakness down the middle. Boston Bruins forward Milan Lucic says he's "done trying to defend" his hometown of Vancouver after he claims he was punched twice at a nightclub.
"I have no reason left to try and defend my city, and the people of my city," Lucic told reporters in Boston on Monday. "Other than being at Rogers Arena, no one will ever see me in downtown Vancouver ever again."
A video released on the Internet that has since gone viral shows Lucic in an altercation with an unknown person in front of Vancouver police. No punches are thrown in the video.
Lucic and the Boston Bruins were in Vancouver for a game on Saturday. The Canucks won the game 6-2.
Lucic told Boston reporters that the incident took place after the game and he was punched twice -- once inside the club and once outside.
"It's something that happened late Saturday night and it's something I'm not proud of, but it was part of an unprovoked attack," he said. "I was punched in the face on two separate occasions. From this point forward, I'm just exploring to pursue this in a legal manner."
Lucic has had problems in his hometown before. Last year, a Serbian Orthodox church in Burnaby connected to Lucic's family was vandalized. Lucic also claims his grandparents have been harassed at Rogers Arena.
The Bruins and Canucks have had an antagonistic relationship since Boston won the 2011 Stanley Cup on Rogers Centre ice in a testy seven-game series. In Saturday's game, Bruins forward Brad Marchand celebrated a goal by mimicking lifting the Cup and pretending to kiss his championship ring.

was it thorton that popped him, cause apparently bostonites think its ok to do so after the play is whistled dead

Out at a night club late after a game where they got blown out? Isn't that grounds for getting traded out of Boston?Peeps wrote:Boston Bruins forward Milan Lucic says he's "done trying to defend" his hometown of Vancouver after he claims he was punched twice at a nightclub.

I thought that was pretty stupid too, but all you see on the replay is the two of them bumping into each other and Rielly cross-checking him. You have no idea if Megna slashed him, shoved him, etc.Peeps wrote:i might add that was pretty classy of reilly to cross check megna as he was crawling to the bench
I have no problem with the Bortuzzo hit, but it still fits perfectly into the league's "primary point of contact" thing. It was more D'Amigo's fault than anything, but the first point of contact was shoulder to head.

im going to give megna the benefit of the doubt and assume he was too hurt to do anything other than wishing he was on the bench.
borts hit was as much fault of his height as it was D'Amigo's but i have to wonder if there is a history there in the minors cause it really seemed like bortuzzo wanted to paste him

Is Bortuzzo normally a big hitter? D'Amigo came back a few minutes later, took another huge hit from Bortuzzo on his first shift and ended up leaving with what looked like a shoulder injury.Peeps wrote: im going to give megna the benefit of the doubt and assume he was too hurt to do anything other than wishing he was on the bench.

i havent seen enough of him to say, he doesnt shy away from contact but i havent really seen him go and hit someone once let alone twice in the game. i thought between fluery and our AHL defense they really played well. if they can keep that up (the ahl D) then the pens can get through these injuries and suspensions

Re: NHL Thread
I thought Fleury looked really shaky, which I guess is how he normally looks out there. He was fighting the puck instead of just getting into position and making the save, and I swear he checked behind him on every second shot. Obviously he got the job done, but that's the kind of goalie performance that makes me nervous for the future.Peeps wrote:i havent seen enough of him to say, he doesnt shy away from contact but i havent really seen him go and hit someone once let alone twice in the game. i thought between fluery and our AHL defense they really played well. if they can keep that up (the ahl D) then the pens can get through these injuries and suspensions
