some friends of mine wanted a unique way to announce on facebook the fact that they are expecting their 2nd child, so we came up with these shots. the fact that the kid goes from a look of shock to flat out crying was just pure serendipity.

Had a little ice storm out my way last week, you might have heard about it on the news due to the widespread power outages and all. Thanksfully we've only had a couple of short outages at my house but a lot of friends and family have been without power for almost a week. Damn if it doesn't make for some interesting shots though....i took these between the 23rd and 25th. a few more here

Some friends of mine have a band and asked me to come out and take a few photos of them this weekend. I wish I could do more of this kind of stuff. I really put some miles on the fisheye lens for this session

This one is my fav. Do you tone your pics in Lightroom or Photoshop? The more I get to know Lightroom, the less I actually open Photoshop.

Thanks. I do most of my tonal corrections in Camera RAW (via Adobe Bridge for browsing and batch processing) and then i'll use Photoshop for more specific work and tasks that RAW isn't able to do such as heavy editing and cloning and also small tonal adjustments to the face/eyes/etc. I've tried to play around with Lightroom on a few different occasions but i'm not that fond of it.

my workflow usually follows this process:
1. download files and open in Bridge
2. examine all files and give each a star rating between 0-3 (sorting this way is key for me when dealing with hundreds of shots)
3. make broad tonal adjustments and then copy those settings to each shot from that same setting/location/angle (huge time saver!)
4. fine tune the tonal adjustments for each individual photo and crop as necessary
5. pick out my favorites and assign a new rating between 3-5 for those
6. open anything with a 4 or 5 rating in Photoshop and make specific adjustments such as cloning, targeted adjustments with masks and adjustment layers (usually to the face and eyes). Save as PSD so i can make changes later if necessary.
7. go back to Bridge and batch process all files with a 5 rating to save out to JPG - and that's what I deliver to a client.

I guess I've built up a tolerance. :D

You should take a look at Exposure for some of your stuff, mate.
