Just a quick listen at work. Hmm, some spots he sounds like he did 23 years ago, others it is blatantly obvious as to the decline of his voice. overall, not fucking bad for as much wear and tear his voice has taken over the years.

Its mostly just odd/jarring because im so used to the original recording and to only put new vocals on top of it makes it very out of place. The instrument production is super fucking dated and then you have eds current rough voice.

Maybe he was moved and wanted to gift the performance to the movie to help differentiate it from the Ten version? Maybe 23 years out he is comfortable enough with his past to experiment with it? Doesn't seem like something worth getting that worked up about.

the structural changes are jarring and the music sucks (or its so buried I can't hear it) Eddie sounds pretty great, actually, other than those high notes he really can't hit anymore. the low end is excellent.

it'd be nice if we can find out how much eddie gets paid for this so we can get an accurate price on what his integrity goes for. We can even create units of measurement. Eddie was paid 4 Out of the Furnaces to rewrite Sleight of Hand to help sell briefcases and clip on ties.

I've seen the movie. I thought it was lame, in bad taste, and just really out of place with the rest of the film. I'm not really sure who's getting that worked up about it. It's a pretty reasonable thing in the grand scheme of being a fan of an artists to be disappointed in. Besides, the Ten version was good enough for the opening credits of the film...

The original version is in the opening. The Rod versions is in the closing credits. I can't stress how little sense it makes in the context of the movie.

I'm not really sure who's getting that worked up about it. .

he's changed the lyrics before in a live setting, most likely spur of the moment, or to honor someone who's recently died. this is a fucking movie about fake people.

this might be the single most disappointing thing pearl jam has ever done. they might as well make a video for 'black' now. im floored by this.

It's a nice performance, seems completely unnecessary, and something of a non-event.

At this point there's so much pissing and moaning on this board that I can't read any complaint without dragging all the rest into the thread--especially when usual suspects are posting. I can't even tell if people are serious about the money comment. But that's on me. RM has pretty much broken me
