It is the Christmas single. It always comes out on vinyl only first, then a few weeks later digital.Strat wrote:Excellent. Look forward to this. of all Stones songs to choose from....it's somehow kind of endearing that they'd pick possibly the most goofy. I'd still rather hear them do something like Rocks Off, but this seems far more appropros for where they are in their lives right now.

Re: The holiday single thread
Felt like looking over the x-mas singles.
91: Let Me Sleep/Ramblings
92: Sonic Reducer/Ramblings II
93: Angel/'fuck me in the brain'
These first three were solid. The ramblings stuff I could do without but these are strong A-side songs, and while it's dumb now I'd be lying if fuck me in the brain wasn't awesome once upon a time.
95: History Never Repeats/My Way/Swallow My Pride/Sonic Reducer
I've heard this maybe 3 times in almost 20 years. Kinda cool in the pre bootleg era, but not memorable performances, and disappointing after several years of studio tracks
96: Olympic Platinum/smile
Live tracks are usually disappointing, but at least it is pre-bootleg. And for a fun little thing to throw on an X-mas single I quite like Olympic Platinum. It's funny.
97: Happy when I'm Crying/Live for Today (REM)
98: Soldier of Love/Last Kiss
99: Drifting/Strangest Tribe
What an incredible 3 year run of X-mas singles. This really set the gold standard.
00: Crown of Thorns/Can't Help Falling In Love
Crown of Thorns would have been cool if this wasn't the year of the bootleg.
01: Last Soldier/Indifference/Gimmie Some Truth/I Just Wanna Have Something to Do
4 songs makes up for the fact that two are live. Plus the Ben Harper Indifference is good and last solider is a great little song.
02: Don't Believe in X-mas/Sleepless Nights
I like fun little xmas covers, and this is a good one. I couldn't even tell you how sleepless nights sounds.
03: Reach Down/I Believe in Miracles
Reach down is acceptable only because we never got a real release for this show. I believe in miracles is just lazy.
04: Someday at X-mas/betterman
Someday at xmas was maybe their best Christmas cover. The molo sessions are horrible.
05: Little Sister/Gone
This is a pretty good one. Why they can't just throw demos onto these things is beyond me, and the little sister cover was with robert plant, never released, and really good.
06: LROM/Rockin in the Free World
I really like this one. The Ujam thing was a good choice. I never listen to it, but it was, at least in theory, a cool collaboration. And LROM is my favorite thing to appear on any Xmas single.
07: Santa God/Jingle Bells
I kinda like santa god for what it is. The fact that it's a christmas song on an x-mas single lowers the bar.
08: Santa Cruz/Golden State
I really don't like santa cruz, but at least its a new song, and golden state is nice.
09: Turning Mist/Hawaii 78
Turning Mist is utterly forgettable. I actually forgot all about those hawaii 78 covers. They were really good, but unnecessary since we have bootlegs.
10: No Jeremy/Falling Down
this would have been awesome if this stuff wasn't so easy to find.
11: Better Things/Devil Doll
I didn't really like better things, but it's a new studio cover, so it's forgivable. I saw no need for Devil Doll.
12: In the Moonlight/All Night
Never actually listened to. Will be made pointless assuming they ever release the show.
Looks like 08 was the last good xmas single.
