would you be receptive to an 'ask dimejinky about hobbits' thread?

That's just lazy. Everything you need to know about Hobbits is on page 1 of the prologue in LOTR.

It's called 'concerning Hobbits'.

Though that would be a cool thread title, in fairness

Disappointed with the movie. The Hobbit could at most have been two great movies, but now it's a watered down unTolkien movie.

Why?
Boyens was the spokeswoman for the "Of course LotR is unfilmable, hopeless as a story, it needs all these Hollywood clichées added to make it into a movie" infuriating bullsh!t, immediately followed by Jackson saying how Phillipa was the one who knows Tolkien best and is so respectful...

And now she's all 'we're introducking Tolkien to a nee generation(bollox. As if kids in this generatio will take on a book like this. Some might. The majority will never)
and now she has her eyes on Silmarillion?? She's saying they won't but they said that about LOTR and Hobbit too.

I do believe once Christopher Tolkien dies, the remaining executors of the estate(lawyers. Family friends, but lawyers) will sell on the rights for Silmarillion. Or parts of it. They want their cut and always will.

This is the beginning of the slippery slope.

I think the son is a little stuck up his own ass, to be honest. I don't think JRR was as worried about what others did with it.
