I loved "Riot Act" on first listen and I still love it. "S/T" was the first time I said, "what the fuck is this crap?". It seems like the more Bon Jovi-ish they get, the more people like them. Just a reflection of prevailing (poor) taste.

I wasn't as instantly enamored with all of what are now my favorite PJ records but I definitely loved "Riot Act" right away. I remember being so disappointed with the overall reaction to it, the reviews and whatnot--I really felt like they were working at a creative level that people just refused to see because of who they were. Growing up, Bon Jovi was my jam. They were probably my favorite band until I heard Nirvana.
