hype? the packers were 5-2 and considered super bowl contenders before their franchise quarterback and MVP went down. now he's back, joining a team that managed to stay in every game without him, save for thanksgiving.Kaius wrote:Our OC came from NO, and they've performed at a high level, how ridiculous can it be? The stretch is comparing that (post game talk) to all of this deep playoff run and Super Bowl talk because Rodgers is going to suit up Sunday. They are actually playing to get into the playoffs this Sunday, right? The former is based on observation, the latter is based on hype, that's all I'm saying.

Re: The Green Bay Packers
When the Packers were 5-2 and were heading into what people considered to be the weaker part of their schedule, no one thought it was ridiculous to think the Packers were going to win 12+ games and go into the postseason primed to make a deep run. That was based on observation of on-field performance as well. So why is it silly to think that if Rodgers proves to be in good form this weekend (an obvious if), they can be every bit as dangerous as people thought they were when they were 5-2? I don't think anyone is proclaiming them the favorite, but if the Packers are in the postseason with him under center, they very much have the possibility to pull an upset against any team on any day. There's a reason ESPN ranked him the #1 offensive player in the NFL.Kaius wrote:Our OC came from NO, and they've performed at a high level, how ridiculous can it be? What's funny to me is that a lot of the Bears fans I know who don't think Rodgers coming back can possibly make a difference, even in the game tomorrow, are the very same people who honestly believed last spring that if Derrick Rose were to step on the court against the Miami Heat after not playing for thirteen months, that the Bulls were suddenly going to beat the Heat and win the NBA Championship.

The bears are second in offensive points, and their offense is is the same, scheme wise as the saints. That's been well documented. It's a work in process, it's year one. Apparently you haven't been watching the whole season. I don't understand the ridiculousness of it other than just a bitter Lions fan feeling left out.Chris_H_2 wrote:Kaius wrote:That's quite the stretch, don't hurt yourself.Chris_H_2 wrote:About as ridiculous as the talk of the Bears offense emulating the Saints after their historic win over the mighty Browns over in the Bears thread.Kaius wrote:The Packers to the Bowl talk is a little fucking ridiculous right now.pnjguy wrote: They want to be the Saints on offense, and its looking pretty good so far.

My only reservation is that the defense has fallen off the wagon as of late. You can't be giving up 36pts to Pitts. I'm hoping any spark the offense generates under Rodgers crosses over to the D. Matthews' thumb isn't helping.spike wrote:that's fucking teamwork.Lament wrote:I see spike beat me to the punch while I was typing up my post.

At the very least Rodgers' ability to sustain long drives should work to the defense's benefit. I don't think it's a coincidence that they were allowing about 22 points per game for the first seven weeks before that jumped up over thirty when Rodgers went out.

this, though it would be nice to have clay matthews out there blowing up third down plays. /:Lament wrote:At the very least Rodgers' ability to sustain long drives should work to the defense's benefit. i just saw activated from pup, but listed as questionable. even if he plays, i don't expect him to have a big game, but the bears will have to account for him nonetheless.Fuck You Jobu wrote:I heard that he was in....spike wrote:is cobb a game time decision?
