Jay Cutler is not a very good QB, Josh McGowen should have started.

I hope trolling finally goes out of style in 2014.

Yeah not sure how a defense that, just a year ago, prided itself on turnovers and scoring, just let the ball lay there....

I'm still upset about this loss. Such a strange game.

Good point, we still have the Hawks. After GB gets bounced from the playoffs, all Packer fans have is ... Green Bay.

The arrow is pointing up for the Bears. Tough loss last night, but 8-8 with this defense is more than reasonable. It's a bad defensive roster, plain and simple.

Cutler played very well, and the offense will only get better.

You definitely can't criticize Cutler.

I'm interested to see what they do with him. $20 million per is a lot against the cap.

There's no way he gets that, and no way he'll demands that. I think he's smart enough to understand that he has a good thing going on here so I wouldn't be surprised to see a cap friendly deal and avoid the franchise tag entirely. 5yr/$75 million with $40mil guaranteed seems like a good deal for both parties.

Well....the Cutler question has been definitively answered.

Slauson and Jennings extended, too. Good for everyone involved.

I'm not a Cutler hater by any stretch. But, 7 years? That's ridiculous for a good, not great 31 year old QB. 4 years should've been the max.

They better start focusing on this high school defense.

I'm sure the cap hit is all front loaded though, and that contract is essentially a 3/4-year deal.

This. It's easy to structure contracts in a way that doesn't cripple your team's future.

this man disagrees.

also:
  • According to Alex Marvez of FOX Sports, Cutler’s deal averages $18 million per year for the first three years of the contract.

I'm sure it's spread out the cap hit.

Yeah, the def needs work. They'll be getting quite a few back from injury, which will help, but still need a bunch of other bodies.
