You're right regarding how the cap hits are not created equal, but to say they are worthless in comparing deals is not entirely true. The reason is because there is someone responsible for the other contracts on the books, and the availability they've allowed to sign someone else and that is the same person who negotiated the deals I posted above. You can put yourself in a position to strike good deals or you can kick the bucket down the road and suffer the consequences later.

I got bad numbers on the cap hits for Cutler, they haven't been disclosed those yet, that's why I edited my post and therefore can't claim the deal is as good as i'm making it out to be. (I guess you didn't like the adjective "brilliant"?) As far as Cliff Stein, I can only go by what I read and what others have said about him. And they have said that he's considered one of the best. I don't know why that offends your sensibilities or way you'd waste time to care. The Bears haven't been good at many things over the last 15 years, Cliff Stein's been the exception. Isn't that sad enough?
