I can listen to the entire album very happily when I'm drunk.

Is this not one of the cardinal rules when grading an album? At least one good listen while moderately-heavily intoxicated.harmless wrote:I can listen to the entire album very happily when I'm drunk.

Yeah, I just gave it a few spins over the last day or so. I hadn't listened to it since prior to Christmas.VinylGuy wrote:Listened yesterday after a while...im more in love with this album than when it came out. I actually kinda liked Future days yesterday.
I still enjoyed it, but it hasn't really changed or developed much for me since then except for the following shock admissions:
1) I like Sirens even more.
2) While Pendulum is a great track, it really halts the feel and momentum of the album. I really feel this song would've been a great final track. I ended up skipping this one.
3) Mind Your Manners is starting to grate a little. I ended up skipping this too.
It may be getting to a point where I'll create my own track list to see if it changes things. I found once I did this with No Code, I loved that album even more (i.e. I removed Mankind and I'm Open).

mind your manners is my favorite song on this thing.
Ellie doesn't like my father's son, but Pendulum is her favorite. She asks for it to repeat. She's gonna be a good kid.

The most frustrating thing about this album is the lack of consistency. The best bits are as good as anything they've done, pretty much. Why can't they just do a whole album like that?

The Lightning Bolt fade-out is a travesty. Worst ever.

I wish Getaway was shuffled elsewhere in the album, and the first track was sort of a Last Exit-ish, short instrumental feedback jam that just led into MYM. Reminiscent of how Nirvana led into Radio Friendly Unit Shifter

Re: Lightning Bolt: The Official Album Thread
Had a listen to this a couple days ago for the first time in a month or so. I still really dislike the song Lightning Bolt. As well, Sirens into LB really kills the flow for me.
Infallible track 4 would have flowed better. Sirens 5 and then drop LB all together
