Futurology is supposed to be a more distilled version of the direction the track 30-Year War goes in. I can't get over how good they are this late into their career, all while still pushing their boundaries. I'm so excited for it. It should be out in May by all accounts.

Leyland Kirby surfaces on Apollo

The celebrated producer will grace the R&S offshoot with Breaks My Heart Each Time next month.

James Leyland Kirby has been responsible for a slightly intimidating array of unsettling ambient music and bizarre deconstructions of pop under a variety of guises, with his work as half of V/Vm and as The Caretaker the most well known. Last year saw Kirby return to one of his lesser known projects The Stranger for a surprise album on the Modern Love label entitled Watching Dead Empires In Decay, and now news has surfaced of another unexpected release from the artist under his Leyland Kirby guise.

Due out next month, Breaks My Heart Each Time sees Kirby debut on Apollo and grant the R&S offshoot perhaps their most high profile release since the label was relaunched by Renaat Vandepapeliere in early 2012. In the subsequent period, Apollo has largely dealt with promoting the new breed of electronic musicians with releases from the likes of Jack Dixon, Synkro, and Indigo. Across the four tracks, Kirby is said to offer “subtle personal reflections upon his own roots in rave and acid house in the UK” all delivered with his distinct attention to mood and detail.

Apollo will release Breaks My Heart Each Time by Leyland Kirby on February 17.

Tracklisting:

A1. Breaks My Heart Each Time
A2. Last Ditch Legacy
B1. Diminishing Emotion
B2. Staring Down The Sun

Rainbows Are Free have a new one coming out in a week or so. Been looking forward to it for months.

Can't find anything new except for demos, but here is a oldie:

Protomartyr- Scum, Rise.

New music from easily one of the best bands on the planet if not the entirety of Michigan, Protomartyr. 2014 might not suck after all. Fantastic live band, and their first LP was among the best of recent times.

I saw that in the newstream earlier. I am intrigued, since Mark's guest slot on Eluvium's "Nightmare Ending" made for one of its best songs.

I've spent a lot of time alluding to this record's existence so it is with great joy and nervousness that I present the title, tracklisting and artwork for the second full-length Musk Ox album...

Woodfall

Part 1 - Earthrise (9:24)
Part 2 ...- Windswept (10:44)
Part 3 - Arcanum (17:35)
Part 4 - Above the Clouds (10:28)
Part 5 - Serenade the Constellations (17:46)

The album is a 65min epic for classical guitar, cello and violin. It's been a long time coming and I thank you all for your patience and support. Myself, Raph and Evan worked extremely hard on this recording and are excited to have you hear it. An official release date will be announced in the new year.
What kind of music is this? Would I like it?

I have no idea if you'd like. This is what it will probably sound like, this is what they played when I saw them:

It was even better in person, especially in this small room full of quiet metalheads. I just hope the studio recordings will do it justice.
