Pearl Jam's second act: Best tracks of the 2000s

Post by sire64 »

Hey folks, not sure if this is a thread anywhere else, but late last year I wrote this article for AMNY - a local newspapaer in NYC - where i count down my top ten tracks of the 2000s. Would love to hear your thoughts: agree? disagree?

http://www.amny.com/urbanite-1.812039/p ... -1.6253792

Oh and if this belongs in a thread somewhere else feel free to shift around. I'm kind of a newbie

Other than lbc and unthought known I wouldn't argue with any of those picks, even if they weren't the ones I would necessarily have made

Not a bad list Sire. UK is the only song I don't care for. I don't know what my top 10 would be but some on your list would probably make it.

I was actually thinking of making a mix like this for some of my non-loving PJ friends.

I haven't put it together yet, but some of the songs I was thinking about including:

Sad
Insignificance
Rival
Of The Girl
Breakerfall
In The Moonlight
Can't Keep
Help Help
Ghost
Green Disease
Parachutes
Severed Hand
Marker In The Sand
Johnny Guitar
Got Some
Getaway
Pendulum
Mind Your Manners
Sleeping By Myself

To be honest, most of it would come from Binaural, or in the case of Fatal, from that period.

Insignificance
Rival
Sleight of Hand
Grievance
All or None
Man of the Hour
Can't Keep
Nothing As It Seems
Of The Girl
Fatal

Glad to see Down and Sad made the list in that article. Two of my all time favs. I like Binaural and Riot Act plenty so ten songs would be a breeze. Throw in Lost Dogs and you've got a nice collection of tunes. I think it would be a bigger challenge to find ten songs from the last three albums that I really love. There are a few, but almost none that top what's found in the the Vs-Riot Act run.

Did this on the quick, probably forgot a couple, feel like I should have more Riot Act songs.

Life is too short to make friends with people who aren't loving.
