I got a bad feeling about the Hawks against the Oilers tonight. Hope I'm wrong...

After all the Habs fans bitching about the Leafs being goons and having players who don't belong in the NHL, it was pretty enjoyable to see Fraser McLaren open the scoring tonight.

Yeah, the Leafs definitely came up empty last night. The teams completely switched places from the 6-0 game a couple weeks ago. Great game between the Hawks and Red Wings today. The Hawks are getting a lot of teams best shot as the streak continues and probably should have dropped the points today against a tough team...

Yeah that was gritty, playoff style game today. Good to see they can play that type of game.verb_to_trust wrote:Great game between the Hawks and Red Wings today. Re: NHL Thread
I wish Chara coulda kept his cool, because you just knew Thornton was going to throw a cheap shot at Subban at some point (which he still did, and got away with it) and that would more than even the score. I think he deserved the penalties he got, and he's really too valuable to sit that long, and we paid for it.

Re: NHL Thread
Also, can we talk about how bad the Bruins were in their own defensive zone, even with Chara on the ice? Too many soft passes, too many pucks sliding off sticks, too many weak clears. Just not impressive.

This game was a good example of why the instigator rule needs to get chucked and the players should be allowed to police themselves

Re: NHL Thread
I wish he could have too but at the same time I don't really fault him for letting it happen this time. We had a lead and we should have been able to protect it, and it's not like this is a chronic problem for Chara. He doesn't fight for a reason but when you're right there and someone breaks the stick off the ribs of your star player, I don't fault you for reacting like that.Simple Torture wrote:I wish Chara coulda kept his cool, because you just knew Thornton was going to throw a cheap shot at Subban at some point (which he still did, and got away with it) and that would more than even the score. Re: NHL Thread
Chara cost the Bruins the game. Julien was going on about embellishment, however the tying and winning goals were both scored at even strength while his captain was serving a misconduct for total lack of discipline. Meanwhile, the Habs proved they can keep up with the Bruins and won't be intimidated by their goons... just like they proved against the Leafs last week.
Now the Bruins have the toughest schedule through March of any team in the East... something like 4 back-to-backs(?). Funny thing about games-in-hand, you actually have to win them to make a difference.

I mostly agree with southp
May the hockey gods strike me dead!
Although that cross check against Seguin was a dirty, dirty, play, you gotta admit.
