Re: The Offical Animated Superhero TV & Movie Thread
The DC animated universe had shared continuity back in the 1990s when the "Batman," "Superman," "Batman Beyond" and "Justice League" animated series were on the air.
For much of the past decade though, Warner Brothers abandoned that idea. Instead they've released standalone direct-to-video movies based on DC Entertainment comic books from "Batman: The Dark Knight Returns" to "Superman: Doomsday".
With this month's "Justice League: War" though, that changes back to shared continuity again. Producer James Tucker says: "This will definitely be the first salvo in doing new films that are in continuity with each other. Our next movie is going to be 'Son of Batman,' and that Batman will be the same Batman that you see in 'Justice League: War'. Basically, we'll have two concurrent series of Justice League movies and Batman movies, and they'll be in continuity with each other. So it's kind of world-building."
The plan is for two home releases each year based in a shared continuity universe, with an additional stand-alone, continuity-free DC animated project every year. This year that standalone will be an animated film based on the successful "Batman: Arkham" video games.

i found arkham easy (croc was meh, poison ivy was probably the most difficult) sure its time consuming but overall once i figured out what to look for it wasnt that horrible. not nearly as challenging as say fable or its' sequels.

Ben McKenzie Cast as Jim Gordon in FOX'S Gotham Series
Variety reports that Southland actor Ben McKenzie has won the lead role in FOX's Gotham series, which will focus on a pre-GCPD Commissioner Gordon and Gotham City in the years before Bruce Wayne became Batman.
Southland's Ben McKenzie will play Det. Jim Gordon on Gotham.

McKenzie, 35, actually voiced the Dark Knight himself in the animated feature film version of Batman: Year One. He's best known for his roles as Officer Ben Sherman on Southland and as Ryan Atwood on The O.C.
Danny Cannon (Judge Dredd) will direct the Gotham pilot from a script by Bruno Heller. FOX has given the show a straight-to-series order. Young Bruce Wayne will be a recurring character on Gotham, which the rumor mill claims will see the likes of a pre-supervillain Penguin and Riddler make appearances on the Nolan-esque gritty origin show.

I think Gotham would've been interesting, but including Bruce Wayne is a mistake. This is supposed to take place during his 'wilderness years'. It's going to be too much like Smallville.

I think it's ok as long as its just an occasional pop in. If it's a focus of the series its a problem.

I thought I read somewhere that Bruce was like ten years old in this. Doesn't it start with the Wayne murders?theplatypus wrote:I think Gotham would've been interesting, but including Bruce Wayne is a mistake. Gotham Casts Its Alfred and The Penguin
Sean Pertwee, 50, will play Alfred and Robin Lord Taylor (The Walking Dead) will portray young Oswald Cobblepot. Zabryna Guevara (Burn Notice) has been cast as Captain Sarah Essen. Welsh actress Erin Richards (The Quiet Ones, Being Human) has been cast as Gordon's fiancee Barbara Kean.
Donal Logue Cast as Harvey Bullock in Gotham
Ed’s Tom Cavanagh Joins The Flash Pilot
The Hollywood Reporter says the actor, who starred as Barry Allen/The Flash in the (unfortunately) short-lived series, will guest star in the CW pilot as a “mysterious character.” The site adds that details for this character are being kept quiet by the network, but if the show goes to series (as is expected), Shipp’s role would expand to recurring.
