I've just started watching this show. It seems pretty neat.

Thought the first two were great. Adam's dinner party rant was so spot on.

I thought it got off to a good start too. For such a female driven show I'm surprised how strong of character Adam is written.

It's not like there isn't a wealth of GREAT material to justify the cost of HBO.

I enjoyed the first two eps. My favorite part by far was Ray's background reaction when Adam's ex said something about Hannah's outfit.

This is a weird show for me to continue watching given that I hate Hannah, Jessa, and Marnie. Each of them annoys me for a different reason, but the one commonality in them is that they are very real portrayals of thousands upon thousands of American girls.

I like Soshanna and I like Adam even more, but neither of them feels real. She is an exaggerated caricature of real girls, and while I bellieve Adam's weirdness, I don't buy for a second that someone like him would be satisfied to be in a relationship with such a lazy and uninteresting person.

Ray is the only charcter who I like and seems real. I imagine that guy exists in every hipster coffee shop in the country.

That's what makes the show worth watching. It's overly funny, dramatic, or loaded with eye-candy (Marnie excepted), it just feels authentic to people's life experiences. To me, anyway.

They have a really good balance. Adam was a psycho with his last girlfriend because they were an even worse fit, ie the shower scene where he pees on her. Hannah accepts Adam for who he is, no need for him to really act out or shock her because it likely wouldn't be that big of a deal with her.

BTW, I'm a little bias, Adam might be my favorite character on a show in a very long time

Adam is by far the best character in the show. I really enjoy any interaction he has with Hannah's friends, especially Shoshanna.

:haha:
Very true. Shosh would be great if she wasn't so "OMG" about everything. If she could be pleasantly clueless about everything, and not so over the top, I might love her.

I totally get that. I was just razzing ya. I wish there was away to get HBO by itself without having to pay for all the other cable.
