yeah, I got Didn't it Rain and Magnolia Electric Company when I was first introduced to all things Molina - I didn't stop listening to them for months.

everything else is pretty much icing on the cake - it's all excellent music. I miss the hell out of this guy.

Kind of echoing what someone else said, but if you liked Didn't It Rain, try out the solo albums: 'Pyramid Electric Co' and 'Let Me Go Let Me Go Let Me Go.'

The Magnolia Electric Co by S:O and the Pyramid Electric Co solo album are where I started and after going through the whole catalogue are still my favs. Didn't It Rain is also excellent and I'm also a fan of What Comes After the Blues and Fading Trails.

Thanks all. Didn't it Rain feels like one of those perfect albums in terms of conception, mood and the way the songs all tie together. I'll keep moving through the catalogue!

This week, former members of MECo and Songs: Ohia are getting together for a series of shows (with an friend singing and playing Jason's parts). This isn't a reformation, but rather a celebration. Sorry I didn't post this earlier! These are the dates:

1/08 - Durham, NC - The Pinhook
1/09 - Asheville, NC - The Mothlight
1/10 - Indianapolis, IN - Radio Radio
1/11 - Chicago, IL - Hideout Inn

Luckily for those of us who can't go, it looks like these are all being released for free! The show from the 8th is already on archive.org: https://archive.org/details/meco2014-01-08

Listened to the Songs: Ohia set and loved it. There were a few clunky parts ("Just Be Simple," unfortunately, and the new-ish arrangement of '"Constant Change" [aka "Translation"]), but overall it was wonderful. I've bought just about every tribute thing there is so far, and although lots of those have been great, it was special to hear these S:O songs with some of the original musicians on them. "Old Black Hen" is a standout, and you can hear Jason Groth's emotion throughout (especially on the first track). A must listen! I'm moving on to the MECo set now.

"Old Black Hen" slowly became a real favorite of mine over the years. I'll be sure to listen to these.

It features Lawrence Peters on vocals--not sure if he's ever done it live with the band before, but it sure souns special.

Coming (hopefully!) to a record store near you on RSD. If I see extra copies of this, I will be snagging them to pass along to like-minded individuals for only the price of the item + shipping. I hope you'll all do the same! #SayNoToFlipping
