number one – wow, really? I mean, srsly
it’s really hard to deal with alvin and the chipmunks and actually ‘listen’ to the song. the music is ok, but c’mon, fuck those vocals.

two – I liked, and it automatically gained points for being an instrumental. also, I appreciate the dissonance.

three – um, speed metal, anyone?

anyway, it’s not completely horrible as a subgenre, just rather stuck up its own ass, I mean ‘math rock’ –

those were the most accessible ones I could think of. It gets stuck so much further up its ass.

I think it's ok, but it's meant to be very in your head experiencing it if one's to take it at all seriously - I don't generally like having to work that hard at music. that's how it comes across to me.

I can see how those were 'accessible' examples though...

it opens up about 3 minutes in- at which point I like it a lot more – but was enjoying the video throughout – so that’s a plus, if the entire tune was more like around that 3 minute mark I’d be much happier with it.
I quite enjoyed the wind down at the end 2 minutes or so

I'll probably listen to it again later and see what I think of it

Hey! Way to turn my completely amiable comment into some sort of insult (I think)!

Most of it is virtuoso show off crap to me, but Battles has a few good ones. Early Foals has some cool math sounding songs, too.

I took obscure to mean "highly specific" and/or "excessively categorized" rather than "unknown."

That. I was in a hurry. Lame is also optional. You know what, I should just try again.
