Re: Lightning Bolt: The Official Album Thread
I'm a 90s PJ fan (Vitalogy and Ten are my favourites) but there's nothing awful or cry-inducing about this run. LTRP and SBM and more enjoyable for me than most of Binaural and Riot Act. YM is one of their best songs. The only one that I don't care for is FD. LB is the only album I listen to in my car these days. I don't remember the last time I listened to Yield all the way through. It's just Given To Fly, Do The Evolution, Wishlist and maybe Brain of J and In Hiding that I come back for.
Pearl Jam is the only band I'll spend money on.

Oh, I really like Records.
I just meant the slow, boring ones after that.

What on earth could your car possibly have done to you to warrant this type of punishment?Release_Me wrote:LB is the only album I listen to in my car these days.

It's not like I have Binaural or Riot Act on repeat. Or even No Code.Lament wrote:What on earth could your car possibly have done to you to warrant this type of punishment?Release_Me wrote:LB is the only album I listen to in my car these days.

Release_Me: It just...it just stopped running. In the middle of the road, it just stopped. I can't figure out what's wrong with it. Is it the battery? The engine? It's the weirdest thing. I can't figure it out. There were no warning signs or anything.
Release_Me's mechanic: Sir, there is literally nothing wrong with your car. The diagnostics are top notch. It appears it just...stopped trying. It's almost like it just committed suicide. I've never seen anything like it before.

Release_Me then proceeds to throw out the Binaural and Riot Act CDs. And No Code too, just to be sure. Release_Me plays LB. The car comes back to life. The engine roars. The mechanic looks on in amazement and takes notes.

Re: Lightning Bolt: The Official Album Thread
So I haven't really been following this thread all that much since October. Do we all hate LB now? Did we ever like it?
Personally, I think there are some solid songs, but I haven't gone back and listened to this thing in months. I guess PJ has just kinda been on a downward slide for me since Riot Act. Don't get me wrong, I like that album, and a bunch of songs since, but I don't really like any one particular album since.
LB has Pendulum, which I think is the best PJ song since Can't Keep. Outside of that, there are a few songs I enjoy, like: LB, SBM, YM, MYM, MFS, and Getaway. The rest of the album sucks though. I'm kinda shocked people like Swallowed Whole. That song pisses me off.
