I like the way that sounds. Did you like it? I'm watching it tonight.

Yeah, but my admiration of character driven cop shows is well documented.
Indeed, Yaphet. 8-)

It's been too long since there's been one on tv, high hopes for this.

Watched this last night & I'm in agreement with you guys. There is certainly a sense of atmospheric dread & heaviness. I'm curious to see how this plays out.

What's funny about Woody is that in everything he is in, I can't stand him for the first 30 minutes or so (Zombieland being the exception), but then I just sorta accept it and end up liking a lot of his work. It's like vodka, the first shot or two sucks..

I understand that. He is one of the best ones from his generation though...and he is getting better. I cant just believe the change Mc has done..its fucking unbelievable.

A Time to Kill & Amistad. Nothing groundbreaking, but I always knew he had it in him.

yeah, and Dazed & Confused and Contact..but i thought that guy was lost. I even hated him every time i saw a trailer with him and Kate Hudson.
Now his work is just astonishing.

Did you see The Messenger a few years back? I thought it fell apart towards the end but the first two thirds is fantastic & it's my favorite Woody Harrelson work so far.
Yeah, Matt McC's white hot right now & making all the right career choices. It's amazing what he's become.

I need to sit down and watch this first episode. Maybe I'll wait until Sunday and watch the first two back to back.

Yup. And I think they are already hinting at McConaughey boning Woody's wife.

turned2black wrote:The first episode was very good. Don't exactly know what they are setting us up for, but the sense of doom and dread is overwhelming. Love the setting. The shots of the shithole town where they work remind me of a couple of towns I lived in as a kid. And the religious/occult imagery is creepy as fuck.

Mud, Dallas Buyers Club, Wolf of Wall Street, this... McConaughey has been money in the bank. Not sure I've seen him play this type of character before.

All of this is spot on. Really enjoyed that first episode.
Spoiler: show
Really stupid question: with the way the detectives were questioning the guys, are they tossing out a red herring that McConaughey might be the serial killer?

I interpreted that to mean:
Spoiler: show
That McConaughey thought they caught the wrong guy, perhaps the reason for his break up with Woody
