I have no idea why the stutter bothers people so much. I find it hooky, if anything. As someone else said, this is a great driving song. Love it.

Listened the other day for the first time since it came out. Really like Getaway, Mind Your Manners, Swallowed Whole and Yellow Moon. The others are ok. MFS is cool till the bridge. LTRP, SBM and FD are not for me.

Release_Me: It just...it just stopped running. In the middle of the road, it just stopped. I can't figure out what's wrong with it. Is it the battery? The engine? It's the weirdest thing. I can't figure it out. There were no warning signs or anything.

Release_Me's mechanic: Sir, there is literally nothing wrong with your car. The diagnostics are top notch. It appears it just...stopped trying. It's almost like it just committed suicide. I've never seen anything like it before.

So I haven't really been following this thread all that much since October. Do we all hate LB now? Did we ever like it?

Personally, I think there are some solid songs, but I haven't gone back and listened to this thing in months. I guess PJ has just kinda been on a downward slide for me since Riot Act. Don't get me wrong, I like that album, and a bunch of songs since, but I don't really like any one particular album since.

LB has Pendulum, which I think is the best PJ song since Can't Keep. Outside of that, there are a few songs I enjoy, like: LB, SBM, YM, MYM, MFS, and Getaway. The rest of the album sucks though. I'm kinda shocked people like Swallowed Whole. That song pisses me off.

My summation:

Universally hailed to be noticeably better than backspacer, with a significant number putting it ahead of S/T and a smaller but not insignificant minority ranking it even higher.

Pendulum generally considered to be excellent, with most of the other songs having lots of vocal supporters, but no general consensus regarding which ones are great. The only songs that have few people really actively endorsing them as strong as LTRP, Future days, and sort of Sleeping By Myself (which many people still seem to dislike being on the album independent of issues witht he song itself).

So for most people an album with a bunch of high spots, but inconsistent. A reminder of what Pearl Jam COULD be doing if they just focused, even though no one agrees on what part of the album they should be focusing on

It does. MFS is towards the bottom of the pack for me (Still a good song), but the bridge is an album high spot and elevates the end of the song

I don't think bridge is horrible or anything the music is fine I'm just not wild about Eddie's delivery it feels cluttered with him singing all over it where as I think his delivery on the rest of the song is really good. Any breakdown before that last verse would have elevated the end of the song he sings the hell out of that last verse that's what's effective.
