I don't really think Ed is more or less mature now. He had already lived a full life and was an adult when writing Ten. Now he can do what he wants.Lament wrote:It's kind of impressive that Ed wrote a less mature song about leaving a bad situation in his forties than he did in his twenties when he wrote Rearviewmirror.
Gone however has some of his best post-2000s lyrics.

The unhealthy attitude is to give up, I've met a lot if people like that. Nothing beats a fighter, someone that never gives up.Lament wrote:I agree that it's typical Eddie Vedder, but that doesn't mean it's not an unbelievably unhealthy attitude.Anders wrote:I can't agree. It's unhealthy to be concerned about other people "witnessing" that you've left a bad situation. That's what sixteen year olds do. A grown up just leaves.Anders wrote:The unhealthy attitude is to give up, I've met a lot if people like that. Nothing beats a fighter, someone that never gives up.
Do you do a lot of packing up and leaving bad situations, Anders? Or is this all hypothetical to you?

Re: Lets Actually Listen to the Album: Binaural
It's not really about me, I've had a mostly good life, I'm not complaining. I have left my home town with good and bad memories, but nearly all good. I've also left friendships and relationships behind, like we all have, but I don't dwell on them (some memories of course). It's like that old saying, you don't have to die to talk about death.Lament wrote:It's unhealthy to be concerned about other people "witnessing" that you've left a bad situation. It's probably similar for Ed. He loves San Diego and Chicago I'm sure, and has mostly good memories.
I think that if you leave a bad situation behind, and you do not focus on how you will succeed in the next one, how you will 'show them', then your chance of failure increases.
