Re: The Mynabirds
I was listening to their two albums this morning. I definitely prefer the first one. I actually like the music more on the second (esp. for generals), but I think she sounds better on the first album, and she's obviously the heart of this band.

Yeah, at the end of the day I probably prefer the first album too. But it's a really close call.

Re: The Mynabirds
What We Lose in the Fire We Gain in the Flood is the first. It's more folksy with a motown feel at times.
Generals is second and it's very different from the first album. Broader instrumentation, heavier beats, studio trickery, etc.
I probably prefer the first but they're both excellent and it's a very close call. Kevin Davis has written some beautiful words about this band.

I hope you can do it ala Lament style, and make it a real mix-tape.cutuphalfdead wrote:If you like these I'll then send you my Awesome Mynabirds Mix which combines their two daytrotter sessions with a few non album b-sides.

Re: The Mynabirds
Give It Time from the first Daytrotter session might be my favorite thing this band has ever done.

I still can't listen to 'Mightier than the Sword' without bawling my eyes out.
