Torts is such an idiot. He matched his idiots against Calgary's starting lineup. The Canucks have no idea what team toughness is if this is the road they're going down. Three out of the last four games they've been complete clowns and only managed to score three goals. Torts should know that clown hockey is not winning hockey.

while i didnt watch the game i just saw the (lo)highlights...but didnt calgary through out their goon squad to start?

it was in vancouver, so calgary had to submit their starting line up first. torts saw who they were starting and responded by starting his 4th line. then he cries about a bunch of fights breaking out...wtf did you think was gonna happen? the same thing happened when he coached the rangers against the devils. dude is a joke.

The best thing he could have done would have been to start the Sedin line and likely have a 1-0 lead 30 seconds into the game. I don't understand the mentality (and it's not just Tortorella... it's all over the place in hockey) that you have to match your fourth liners up at the start of a shift. If the opponent's fourth line comes on during a regular line change, coaches can't wait to get a top line on the ice to face them and take advantage of an uneven matchup. What's the difference?

Bingo, if it's not risking his first line players health when it's an offensive zone face-off, why is it when it's a neutral zone face-off? Torts is an idiot with a long track record of being an idiot, coaching a team on an idiot binge. He deserve at least ten games if not longer considering he's about a five time offender by now. He doesn't get, will never get and should be suspended accordingly.

i understand why he did it, i just dont understand why he's pretending he's surprised. you start 4th line against 4th line b/c you want to set an aggressive tone from a fight...or in this case, 5 fight. if he didnt wanna set an early physical tone, he should have started the sedin's. he's completely full of shit.

Yeah, I meant to add that, and I think that's the big issue here. He had plenty of options and he knew exactly what he was doing. If he started a different line and the Flames still decided to act like goons, then he would have every right to complain.

15 days during which there are 6 games for Torts. I believe during this time he is not supposed to have any interaction with the club but could be wrong. I would have liked to have seen a few more games as he is a repeat offender many times over.

So, uh... things sure have changed in the last couple weeks, haven't they? People can say whatever they want about Phil Kessel and leadership and core players: Kessel is perfectly capable of throwing this team on his back and dominating game after game. 14 points in the last 7 games and he's been the best player on either team each game.

Have the Leafs done the west coast roadtrip yet? I think that's the measuring stick to use. Colorado was off last night but good game by the Leafs. I think a successful year for the Leafs will be winning one round of the playoffs. Have Leaf fans finally figured out that Bernier is a big step up from Reimer? I can see Bernier being a top 10 goalie next year once he gets a touch more consistent.

They don't do the west coast trip until after the Olympics. They've played each of the California teams in Toronto... beat the Ducks, lost to the Kings and Sharks.

Bernier is proving that he's the better goalie, but I think they still need to give a decent amount of playing time to Reimer to make sure they're both at their best. Reimer's SV% is still better than Quick, Howard, Lundqvist and Bobrovsky... 13th in the NHL. He's a very good goalie.

i would love to hear the explanation that the refs/league give for orpik getting the gate last night.

i understand they got rid of him to stop the non-sense but considering he got a game misconduct for allowing someone to punch him is insane

They usually do that to anyone involved in that kind of situation in the last few minutes of a game that's basically already been decided.
