I missed most of the Lightning Bolt discussion when it was released, so I'm sure this has been discussed... but what's up with the buzzing sound when Ed's vocal track comes in? Sounds like he's singing under a florescent light in an abandoned building

I think this matter deserves its own thread.

Is this song the sad, disappointed sequel to "Undone"?

Whats kind of weird is I don't LOVE the song on the album (I like it but don't love it)

But I LOVE the song as the opener to their shows. From the first notes on the synth it sets the tone, and I dunno...I just love it as the opener of the show, ESPECIALLY when they use it as an intro and follow that with a more traditional opener. Pendulum/Release and Pendulum/Wash at the Brooklyn shows was great.

Plus Eddie nails the "long time aGOOOOOOOO" note every night. His low voice just echoes through the building and he sounds so good. It's a shame what happens like an hour later.

I'm not reading through this thread, but is anyone else a little disappointed this was first recorded almost 5 years ago and is arguably the best track on LB?

I think they were saying that because there weren't any 5 years ago. An unreleased song isn't a song people are going to know or care about.

i certainly dont think it would fit on backspacer. most of backspacer is garbage, this is one of their best songs in over a decade. it was worth the wait i think.

My point is how vocals can we be about them " not doing these sort of things anymore". We dont know. Thats about it.

I agree, but from a fanboy perspective it's just worrisome nothing else stylistically similar and of comparable quality was produced post-Backspacer and/or deemed worth of inclusion on LB. Maybe there are others... like a book amoungst the shelves..

if you talked to BOB about this one, he'd probably tell you he didn't want it on LB either.

Yeah, fair enough, but if they're writing them and not releasing them it doesn't really count. Which was my only point.

It counts of it does. They still write that music and this other type of music as well. It does exist.
