The wife got me a turntable for Xmas. She got me Band of Horses, Neutral Milk Hotel, and VU & Nico. With my Discover rewards dollars I got Wu-Tang, I See a Darkness, Southern Rock Opera, Rain Dogs, I Might Be Wrong, A Tribe Called Quest, Exile on Main St, Beggars Banquet, Ziggy Stardust.

Along with a bunch of stuff I found cheap and used a couple weeks ago. Little Feat, Kris Kristofferson, Kinks, Pixies' Doolittle, Warren Zevon, Swordfishtrombones, and a ton other I can't remember right now.

I'm addicted.

I'm assuming you bought that new, and while the exile reissue is nicely packaged, etc the original pressings are a thing of sonic beauty in all their dirty-production-glory. If you see one second hand in decent shape you should snag it and you'll probably ditch the repress. I've been down this road

Yeah. Believe me, if I ever find it used in a shop somewhere I'll buy it immediately. The wife didn't get me the best turntable (no counter weight on the arm) so I'm not buying records that I want to have forever. Putting about a $25 limit on them while I get into collecting, and looking at a lot of used ones less than $10.

I a couple years when I upgrade the system I'll start the hunt for more rare, expensive records.

It may not be everybody's thing, but I want to give a quick shout-out and say that Iron And Wine's "The Shepherd's Dog" is one of the best-sounding LPs I own.

Edit: Also ordered the dub version of "Dream River" and I'm pumped for it to arrive next week!

Damn...what condition are those all in?

Dark Side of the Moon has a little cover wear, but the it's one of the first few pressings, still had a poster and the stickers inside.. the record plays great, it just needed a good cleaning. Picked that up for $6

Obscured By Clouds is in almost perfect condition, haven't done any research on it yet.

Kick Out the Jams is in very good condition with the exception of a little cover wear.

Aqualung is in OK condition... I wasn't going to pass it up for $3.


I'd say it was well worth the dig... I think I spent like $16 on all four records. I like going to antique stores for used vinyl because there is a bigger chance that the person selling the records doesn't know what they have.

This is a good comment. I get dragged to a lot of antique stores or flea market things because my girlfriend likes old furniture and decorating. So I end up wandering and if you're patient enough to sift through the dusty milk crates you can find some good stuff. A few weeks ago I bought a Bowie and REM record that were missing from my collection, both were in perfect shape for a couple of buck each. The only time they gouge at those places is when it's Beatles, or Elvis or Stones as they know they can charge a premium.
