This is basically just how Eddie Vedder sounds now. It's not a case of good shows or bad shows, that's just his voice. His old voice is more or less gone - he's the "heeee" and "wup" guy now.
Yeah, but to follow up a bit of what WtOB was saying, it's the way he chooses to sing. Like he does not need to sing the start of In My Tree like "Wup here...". Why can't he just sing "Up here..."? Or Wishlist, why is it "dwa Christmas tree...", not "the Christmas tree..."? These are things Ed does not have to do but for whatever reason, he is choosing to sing this way. For me, it borderline ruins the songs.

They should also drop songs like MYM, Got Some, and Lukin from the setlist. Ed just can't pull those off, and the songs pretty much always sound terrible live.

Going back and listening to the older boots, Ed didn't seem to try so hard. I don't know how to explain it but his delivery was more reserved in a way, maybe that's not the right way to explain it. Like he didn't try to add all these accents and stuff, he just sang. It's like he's really trying to do something now that his voice just isn't capable of. It's not a matter of me "getting over it", it's that Ed seems to be choosing to sing a certain way now, and for me it just doesn't fit with the music as it once did. I really have no idea how to explain this...I wish I could articulate it like KD could.

I want to be clear though, this doesn't mean I hate Pearl Jam, I just don't like the way they sound live these days (primarily Ed). I'm one of the guys who likes Sirens for crying out loud. Also, I had a good time at the Baltimore show, but that could have been the shrooms.
Why does he sing like that now?

Poor vocal coaching and a misguided belief that he still has such a powerful voice that tone is all that matters.

Compare his voice now to '94/'95, and I'll argue that his tone is better, but the passion is gone. Without passion and with too much focus on tone and filling melody bars, you end up with forgotten lyrics and 4 vowel sounds in one-syllable words.

Yeah, wtf? It's been, what, over 3 weeks since they released Hartford/Baltimore?
Particularly when Nugs/LiveDownloads had all three for sale for a few days already (before 10C told them to take them down).

They've been on torrent sites for two weeks now, it's mind-boggling.
Jesus christ, still!
This entire delay is caused from Nugs backlog as a result of their week long vacation. Nice knowing you, Nugs. Kufala was superior. I hope there's a competing competant company to switch to. The community bashed Basecamp relentlessly, but isn't bashing Nugs enough IMHO. Some people's Philly boots haven't shipped yet. It's been almost a month. They don't return emails. You can't call them. And they are pointing the finger at PJ when you question them. And they don't even use TY discs (Kufala did). RIP Brady.

Anyone still have my old basecamp picture? it's been a while since I last saw it.
And now they are shipping shows with 2 second gaps between tracks - Hartford Disc 2 and Disc 3. Unbelievable. Don't they do any QC?

The path of Eddie's voice has sounded weird for me. Can anybody track it out with more bootleg experience?

I've heard some from 92-94 and he sounded amazing, though different from now. That raw power in his voice and yet a soft beauty to it somehow to like he had on Vs. and Ten. I heard some live version of Daughter from '94 that was really stripped down and sounded great.

Then I heard some stuff from 2000 and he sounded AWFUL. Like...really bad. Weak and totally off key and just overall an unpleasant sound to listen to. He sounds too "wild" like he's just singing random notes and it doesn't sound good at all, it just sounds sloppy.

Then I heard some from 2006 and he sounds great again. Clear and with that soaring voice that he didn't have at all in 2000 and he used to have when they first started. Like he sounded really really good.

Somewhere around 2011 or so he started sounding pretty bad again. He's pushing so hard and trying to hit the right notes but can't do it and just sounds embarrassing, and added weird things in his voice "Jeremy spoke in class Todaaa...heeeeey.", "Oh...hoooo", and stuff like that.

2013 he sounds better than 2011/2012 but only for the first couple songs.

Can I ask why you're (presumably) buying the CDs? I bought the CDs in 2000, 2003, and 2008, but now I just can't imagine paying extra for a CD-R that I can make myself (if I wanted to listen to the shows on CD)

I do prefer to listen to the shows in CD format. I wait until the annual Black Friday sale to make purchases (usually). I got the box for $310 shipped. That's not much more than buying the mp3s individually and it's cheaper than buying the FLAC and HD FLAC individually. I download the FLACs (via "fair use" ;) ) for my archive files.

I guess I'm old school regarding CDs. I've listened to every show they ever played (and a recording exists) on CD and want to keep it that way. I do appreciate the packaging. I would regret not buying them and would want to buy them down the road. I still regret not buying all the 2003s.

You can burn your own CDs. It's the same thing that they do.

I appreciate the offering so I support it. Let's face it, the option won't be around for long.

The CD order should come with a digital download. Strange that they don't.

Fair enough. Not picking on you, just curious - because you obviously care about getting properly recorded discs. I did the same thing in 2008 - Bought the box set of CDs because I wanted the packaged discs and the box. But I also wanted the clean FLACs that weren't ripped from a CD, so I downloaded those. Out of ceremony, I listened to each disc once, in order, but since then they've been in the box. If I want to listen to a 2008 show (unlikely), I'll load up the FLAC.

I came close to ordering the box sets for 2009 and 2010 for the same reason because I thought I would like to have the CDs, but it's just a lot of money for an incredibly generic package, so I'm glad I didn't bother.

I like the CDs too; I admit I largely have not adapted to digital music.
