That was a really good show. Eddie was cracking heaps of jokes and they all seemed super happy and into it. As much as I enjoyed some of the deeper album cuts the crowd vibe was electric when it was a song everybody knew. McCready must've given out at least 50 guitar picks. He was the most hyper I've ever seen him live.
Other notables were Cosmic Psychos after a bit of a slow start they really started firing about 5 songs in. Mudhoney were also great but they lost a lot of momentum with the crowd when Mark stopped playing guitar and just sang. Plus they closed with a few less well know tracks. Eddie also turned up about halfway through the Psychos set and watched both bands from the side of stage. There was a group of PJ nerds that were calling out trying to get his attention between songs. That was a little awkward.

I was in the D on Stones side but closer to the back. After the main set we moved further back in the crowd and the sound was much better. I couldn't hear Mikes leads in our original position. I also saw Tame Impala for a bit and the last half of the Drones. Gaz was fired up and throwing guitars about. It was intense.
Beady Eye were underwhelming. No effort or passion whatsoever aside from Liam and the drummer. The crowd didn't respond except for the Oasis covers. It smacked of a band just collecting the cheque.
Arcade fire isn't my thing but I did see the whole set while waiting at the Pearl Jam stage. It was energetic but for me it had a weird cult vibe or something.

Yes. That's what I felt when I saw them in 07. As much as I enjoyed their set I felt like I wasn't involved. I will probably catch their last few tracks though.

I read reports Melbourne only had around 20-25k in attendance against (initial) expectations of 60k or so, doesn't look good for the future of the festival if true (seeing as Pearl Jam themselves pulled more than that in Adelaide last time around).
Too bad it wasn't a standalone Pearl Jam/Mudhoney/Cosmic Psychos tour, they probably would've come out ahead!
