Re: 2014 Pearl Jam Predictions
A pass to the end zone
But you don't know where from the ball was thrown
Like a burning meteor at Mile High
Looking for a place to land
she said, "Did he catch that with one hand?"
And after booth replayed, she screamed out "yes!"
Now the score's 14 to three
And you hit a bubble screen, and soon
It's first on the fifteen, play-action fake
And then before you know, defense is
overloading all the
right side of the ball, on your team
You gotta know you'll never let it go
The Superbooowwwwl
Super booooowwwwwlllll

Well, they didn't even need to win the Super Bowl to get the Pearl Jam shirt...

It's actually one of their less terrible sports logo themed shirts.
At least this one has proceeds going to charity.

It'd be a bit crass if it were just like "Hey, the Seahawks are in the Super Bowl. How can we use this to make some money for ourselves? Let's print up some t-shirts..." I'm glad it's for charity.VinylGuy wrote:ohh ok, its ok then...what a relief.

Re: 2014 Pearl Jam Predictions
It's a cool design? It's the Seahawks logo with "Pearl Jam" written above it. If you really think the design is cool, it's been around for what, forty years? It just didn't have "Pearl Jam" written on it. So yeah, if they were just slapping their name on it to piggyback on the Seahawks being in the Super Bowl to sell some shirts, that would absolutely be tacky and crass. This isn't rolling into some city and making a sports shirt to commemorate THE BAND playing a show there like all of the previous ones. It's a shirt to commemorate A FOOTBALL TEAM doing something, something completely independent from Pearl Jam. There's a pretty big difference there.
But like I said before, as a charity item, I have no problem with it if it's gonna make some money for an organization that needs it.

T shirts are merchandise. Its cool they are making another charity thing, but i still find the whole " im pissed they are making t shirts to make money" thing laughable.Lament wrote:It's a cool design? Re: 2014 Pearl Jam Predictions
I don't care if they want to make t-shirts to make money. But I absolutely think it's tacky to say "Huh, something pretty unrelated to us is hot right now. Let's tie ourselves in with it." That's pretty lame in my mind. There are millions of awesome designs you can put on a t-shirt. To effectively say "Let's just put our name on something that's already selling for reasons completely independent of us and sell it for ourselves" is pretty crass.
I'm alright I suppose. Walking a tightrope, but surviving. How about yourself? Things well over on the other side of the equator?

it's true, just like the $44 candles, the $35 t-shirt will donate a portion to charityLament wrote:It'd be a bit crass if it were just like "Hey, the Seahawks are in the Super Bowl. and just like with the $44 candles, the charity would be better served by people donating to the charity directly, and giving $1 to McP to sniff his penis, instead of buying the merch

Maybe...they are all sports fans. I really dont think its a " sell out " sort of thing.Lament wrote:

"Selling out" isn't a concept I really believe in. I just think it's tacky and lame. I'd feel the same way if the Seahawks were selling shirts with Stickman on them wearing a Seahawks jersey on to coincide with Lightning Bolt charting at #1.VinylGuy wrote:Maybe...they are all sports fans. It's actually been colder in Florida than I've ever seen it before. I mean, it's still nicer weather-wise than probably 90% of the country, but it's been getting down into the 40's F every night for the past few nights. I'll be glad when it gets back up to the 70's in a few days and stays there.

If pearl jam had a t-shirt that aped a mets or jets logo when I was following baseball and football I would have bought it in a heartbeat.
What charity is it going to?

It's $15 cheaper and 100% of proceeds go to the charity. Not just "a portion of the proceeds."

Not only that, but that's a much cooler, far more unique shirt. Good find. If I were a Seahawks fan, that is a shirt I'd want in my collection.B wrote:Go Ames Bros. http://amesbrosshop.com/ames_bros_nd_se ... arity.aspx
