HBO: Game of Thrones (Song of Ice and Fire)

I started rewatching this in anticipation of the fourth season. The problem is I'm going to finish and there will still be plenty of time before the new ones.

My plan all along has been to read the books after the show is done.

Begin a countdown until the premiere by role playing a different character each day. Never get out of character, even at work.

Start with Hodor.

I read ahead and can't wait to see the next portion of the story on the big screen. However, after what I'm guessing will be the end of this season, in regards to the books, the next book was pretty boring. I didn't even finish it.

I think the show is gonna peak this season. The Red Wedding is obviously the single most mindblowing thing in the books, but that whole section of the book is pretty intense.

You have to remember in regards to the books, the events of books 4 and around 2/3 of 5 are happening simultaneously. There are so many storylines, I'm more afraid of them condensing it too much more than it getting boring.

Last I remember reading, the makers of the show are planning on 7 season and they know the fate of all major characters. If they stick to that, or even add a season, some stuff that gets a little tedious in the books will come off better on screen.

Spoiler: show: Really? Hmm. There were definitely a lot of new characters being introduced in FfC, and all I could think was where are [fill in blank of nearly any of the characters I care about]?

I couldn't get into any of 'em. However, like I said, I put the book down kind of early in the game. I realized many of the story lines I cared a lot about were either already tied up, or they just disappeared for the first 3-400 pages, however far I made it into the book.

Is book 5 great? Or is it the one we are waiting on from Martin? Half-tempted to read plot summaries of FfC and move onto the next one.

Man, Feast of Crows is so good. It's my second favorite book in the series.

I honestly am not sure I am smart enough to keep up with so many new characters. If it wasn't for the series, I'm not sure I could've kept up with Storm of Swords. I had to keep referring to a wiki link character chart.
