It would be interesting to know how far along Eddie thought this was

Its a "ditty" but I wouldn't say it sounds like any typical one he's done.

There's a nice bassline that follows the song, gives it a little more weight. I like this song.

guys, i really like the direction where this song shines its lights. the lyrics are terrible cheese, and the topic is tired at this point. but i agree with stip, i REALLY wish PJ would explore Ed's lower register more often... that's my favorite way he sings.

This song reminds me of something off Beck's "Sea Change"

From "Hee to "Hur".

This really does sound like a Bright Eyes b-side. Come on Ed. Connor wrote this exact song when he was 14. You can do better.

Too much "niggas" and "bitches" in the lyrics. Jesus Christ, Ed.

This is exactly the kind of song he needs to solidify himself as his generation's Paul McCartney.

The vocals sound like Riot Act era Ed.

I'll take the heat. I jumped on this one fast. Cease and desists are generally not polite when Ed's stuff is involved. I didn't wait for it.
Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?

I agree! Love the direction this song is going in, the piano actually adds to the song rather than detracts and the harmonica is great! The lyrics are more of the same stuff from late but I love the vocal delivery and the music.

stupidmop wrote:Don't like the harmonica, but otherwise its ok. Waaay better than future days yes, but i think its also way older too so it doesn't really matter. I kinda like the doubled vocals.

I miss this circa riot act deep mumbly voice/singing style :(
I don't really care to hear this but I sort of became slightly more interested at this comment.

In general, though, if it's shitty I'm gonna be annoyed. If it's good, I'm gonna be annoyed that it didn't replace FD on LB (even though if it had, you can be sure that BoB would've fixed it in the studio to make us all hate it). So I don't think I'll bother.

the singing-through-the-teeth vulnerable ed vox make me think this is from around the same time as those uke demos.
