Doug Getaway was the #1 Pearl Jam Moment of 2013. Fucking TSIS.
There's the dog. You can't fake that stuff. Confess with your mouth.

And I'd be curious to see a Getaway video.

Re: Lightning Bolt: The Official Album Thread
Nothing popping up at hometown radio. Maybe just an international single a la Got Some.
The records pretty stalled out, sales wise. I remember thinking Getaway had about a bass line going for it and not much else, but on this record it's not a terrible choice. Especially if you drop another softie as a fourth single.

I hope they are smart enough to release Sleeping By Myself as the fourth single. That song should be at least as big as Just Breathe was and it will push the record a little bit more.

Not releasing Future Days as a single will be one of the best things they've ever done.

Well, not officially, but it was always a possibility considering BoB shat all over it with his ivories.

And to think it could have been a perfectly forgettable atmospheric track.

I know, I know. I just... what goes through someone's head to turn such a simple acoustic ditty into... that? I thought I'd put this one to bed but I'm clearly still bitter about it.

Re: Lightning Bolt: The Official Album Thread
I'd venture that Future Days is the single most annoying vocal performance Ed has ever committed to tape. Nearly every line is just awful. Why does he sing like that? If he just sang it normally it would be a nice little song, but his awful, awful, awful vocal inflections destroy it to the point where it's not only unlistenable, it's downright embarrassing. It's genuinely hard to believe this is the same guy who sang (insert any ballad from the first decade or so here).
