Sorry about only posting a single set update. Had to go to bed. On paper it looks like an awesome set.
Didn't have the same opinion as Spenno regarding Arcade Fire when I saw them. Didn't think they were the 2nd coming or aanything but they were alright. Sounded better when the chick was singing

Sorry to hear that Spenno. Hope there were some enjoyable moments for you.
The steel drum parts of AFire were pretty bad at Sydney. Not sure if it was a tuning or performance issue. But as a band they were tight.

Oh, I thought he liked them.theplatypus wrote:Just as long as you realize you've got Stip on your side on that one.
In that case...
(No, I still don't like them.)
This was a surprise. It seemed to sound marginally better than their earlier attempts at the song but the lower key really takes the wind out of it. Mike played guitar instead of the six-string bass.EJ wrote:What'd you think about My Father's Son?

I think the heat may have affected the band too, it seemed as though the focus just wasn't there last night.

It's actually the first time out of 15 I genuinely felt they were just going through the motions. A lot of other bands feel that way, but PJ haven't.
I've woken up a tad deflated.

That's a drag, guys.
At points through their show up here I sort of felt like I was going through the motions.

Something's changed. We're all getting older too, seen a lot of shows etc.
I mean the set is pretty solid for a festival FFS. It just didn't feel like it usually does.
It was also fucking hot.

I'm so glad I didn't waste my time or money on the BDO.
Suck for you guys, though.

Sounds like they were a bit flat last night. Hopefully they'll be in better form for Perth - last show til June.

Not bad, I'd hesitantly say it was the tightest version they've played thus far (if still seriously hampered by the lower key).ridleybradout wrote:How did My Father's Son sound?
While I'd heard guys like this on audience boots before, I'd never previously encountered "song spoiler" guys in the wild - dudes who take note of the guitar changes and yell out the title of the immediately upcoming song as though everyone's going to congratulate them on a job well done. "MIKE ON THE 12-STRING ACOUSTIC - IT'S SIRENS!", "HERE COMES EVEN FLOW", etc. Holy shit, that was fucking annoying.
YL wasn't on the setlist, Jeff had to scramble to find his bass when Mike began playing it, and it was followed by a brief Little Wing tag with Ed on drums.

It's more annoying when they do that and they're wrong.Birds in Hell wrote: While I'd heard guys like this on audience boots before, I'd never previously encountered "song spoiler" guys in the wild - dudes who take note of the guitar changes and yell out the title of the immediately upcoming song as though everyone's going to congratulate them on a job well done. Honestly, I go to a lot of shows, and I've never encountered anything like that. Didn't know those people existed. What assclowns.Birds in Hell wrote:While I'd heard guys like this on audience boots before, I'd never previously encountered "song spoiler" guys in the wild - dudes who take note of the guitar changes and yell out the title of the immediately upcoming song as though everyone's going to congratulate them on a job well done.
