Guys, its not like Zac Efron is a HUGE star that you should be concerned about like Ewen McGregor was. He's known, but he's hardly a superstar.

I agree, dime. Most of the actors were very much unknown when the original Star Wars came out. I'd rather they did that again and find good, suitable, unknown actors again rather than focusing on getting any big name actors in some vague attempt to boost the movie. I mean, fuck, this is Star Wars - it doesn't need any big name actors to push it.

That's one of the things that annoyed me about the prequel trilogy, they got too many unsuited big name actors that didn't really have a passion for their characters, nor character development.

Surely they'd save a buttload on the actors wages, and can spend it on other areas.

But the unknown actors they got for the prequels kinda sucked, too.

It mystifies me why anybody would ever blame the actors for the quality of their performances or the movies themselves, in a case like this. If it was just "Wow, Hayden Christenson sucked in that movie, he sure fucked things up," that might be a thing. But when Liam Neeson, Ewan McGregor, and Samuel L. Jackson ALL tank hard, it has to be the director. There's no way an entire ensemble cast sucks that much peter without there being an influencing source beyond their control.



Unlike, say, Indiana Jones, where some of the side characters do alright (and Cate's problem is more her character's written cartoonishness than what she gives to it) and the only person blatantly sleepwalking through it all is Harrison Ford.

Anyone have a guess on what the Villain will be in these films? Were any of Lucas' ideas taken for the books that followed Return of the Jedi?

I'd say he'll be a dude with a red lightsaber in a cloak and helmet who is really good at punching and has a giant black ship, or something.

As far as I remember, the novels needed a "stamp of approval" from Lucas for any major changes to the series' mythology (like the death of a major character), but the ideas came from the authors, not from Lucas. So unless Lucas wanted to take an idea from one of the authors, it'll be something completely new. So probably no Thrawn, unfortunately.
