At this point, those sandals would have more padding then my New Balance 1600s. After ~1,200 miles, they are probably under 4 oz.EJ wrote:turned2black wrote: Chia seeds, please. Born to Run style. Viva el Caballo Blanco!you still need to step up to the Tarahumara running sandals.

Absolutely! It's common for people to favor one leg over the other. I have a friend who has one chicken leg and one muscular leg. It's kinda awesome.Kaius wrote:You favor that right leg a little huh?

I favor my right side too. I try to make a conscious effort to balance it out, but it's hard

20F this morning but felt colder. My camelback's drink tube was slushy and the spigot frozen solid 5 minutes into the ride. Thinking of swimming before work and bussing tomorrow. There's nothing fun about biking when its that cold.
Think I’m going to try being kind to everyone a chance.

Re: The running/exercise streak thread
i've had to resort to the elliptical. my knees just can't handle the running. although, running in the park on those trails last summer seemed to be ok. even after all this elliptical, my knees are creaky and noisy going up and down the stairs at home. no real pain, a little discomfort. guess i just need to continue to drop the weight and see how things go a few months down the road.turned2black wrote:Not me, I have respect for all of God's creatures.red calzolaio wrote:do you guys have less respect for people that "run" on the elliptical?

Have you tried a track? I have a couple of friends with REALLY bad knees and they run almost exclusively on the high school track in their neighborhood.red calzolaio wrote:i've had to resort to the elliptical. my knees just can't handle the running. although, running in the park on those trails last summer seemed to be ok. even after all this elliptical, my knees are creaky and noisy going up and down the stairs at home. no real pain, a little discomfort. guess i just need to continue to drop the weight and see how things go a few months down the road.turned2black wrote:Not me, I have respect for all of God's creatures.red calzolaio wrote:do you guys have less respect for people that "run" on the elliptical?

i was about to say "some people use ellipticals b/c its easier on joints" you obviously already know this lol. i went through a phase where i used an elliptical a decent amount, but the strides are too short for the way i run. my feet ended up smashed up against where you put your feet and they'd be numb after 20 minutes. ive been using a treadmill alot, but ill start running outside again when the weather gets nice. my knees still get sore, but i just ice them and smoke weed.red calzolaio wrote:i've had to resort to the elliptical. my knees just can't handle the running. although, running in the park on those trails last summer seemed to be ok. even after all this elliptical, my knees are creaky and noisy going up and down the stairs at home. no real pain, a little discomfort. guess i just need to continue to drop the weight and see how things go a few months down the road.turned2black wrote:Not me, I have respect for all of God's creatures.red calzolaio wrote:do you guys have less respect for people that "run" on the elliptical?

Do you smoke weed to deal with the pain from running? Or do you run to give you a cover for smoking weed?warehouse wrote:my knees still get sore, but i just ice them and smoke weed.

i actually run to get a runner's high. i smoke weed when i ice my knee b/c it helps me relax and sit still for a while. i light candles to cover for smoking weed.surfndestroy wrote:Do you smoke weed to deal with the pain from running? the elliptical affords me to exercise everyday if i want. but i am experiencing exactly what you did with the smashed and numb feet.warehouse wrote:i was about to say "some people use ellipticals b/c its easier on joints" you obviously already know this lol. i went through a phase where i used an elliptical a decent amount, but the strides are too short for the way i run. my feet ended up smashed up against where you put your feet and they'd be numb after 20 minutes. ive been using a treadmill alot, but ill start running outside again when the weather gets nice. my knees still get sore, but i just ice them and smoke weed.red calzolaio wrote:i've had to resort to the elliptical. my knees just can't handle the running. although, running in the park on those trails last summer seemed to be ok. even after all this elliptical, my knees are creaky and noisy going up and down the stairs at home. no real pain, a little discomfort. guess i just need to continue to drop the weight and see how things go a few months down the road.turned2black wrote:Not me, I have respect for all of God's creatures.red calzolaio wrote:do you guys have less respect for people that "run" on the elliptical?

?? miles in 40 minutes
Felt like ass all day. Hit the track and things didn't really improve. Kinda sucked to break the string of great runs on the indoor track. Did manage a decent kick the last 5 miles. Ugh.
I compromised with my wife and agreed to run just 5 miles (or 40 minutes on the indoor track) a day for the next week in an effort to kick this stupid fucking cough.

Have you tried using a vaporizer at night? It might help clear out the last of the gunk causing the cough.
