Come on Up to the House and Anywhere I Lay My Head both beat it out. But it does look like it's #3.verb_to_trust wrote:Is 'That Feel' the best Tom Waits album closer?
Maybe if it wasn't a fade out?

"Fawn" is a great closer-- it's a bittersweet number that brings the themes in the album to a satisfying conclusion, and it sounds great after "Barcarolle".

That feel is one of his best songs, those vocals...Such a great great song.
When Ed did it in those Bird Sessions, he put a smile in my face.

That Walking Dead episode a few weeks back really sparked my Tom Waits curiosity.

I think it's a pretty good way to end the album. And there's some (of course) pretty good lines and affected singing in it. Certainly ain't no Come On Up To The House.stip wrote:i might go skip it right now

I had forgotten about this. Those Birdman sessions were fun. They remind me so much of jamming with my friends in college. The song is still my favorite album closer of Tom's, even with the Ed cover stigma...

Perusing YouTube for Tom stuff. Even Scarlett Johansson's neutered Falling Down gave me goosebumps because it evoked Waits's version to me...I fucking like this guy too much. Sometimes I listen to this song like 5 times in a day.

I'm ashamed to admit I didn't really hear Falling Down until a couple of months ago. It's rocketed up the list since, though.
Easily one of my favorite Tom Waits songs. The song destroys me.
