I was there, man. It was painful.
My favorite part is at 2:25, when Ed sings, "Moved by sleight of haaaaa-AAAAA-aaaaa-AANNnnnd"... then throws his hands up and struts away from the mic, thinking, "Fucking NAILED that."

Then Mike goes into some sort of solo that sounds like a 6 year old playing on a Jaminator

Performance art as comedy is really hard to make work, but they perfected it here.

I like to think of it as a test that the audience failed. At that moment, the band realized nothing they do up there matters.

I like it when Ed raises and lowers his hand to mimic the notes he hits within one syllable. Like he's Christina Agorilla or something.

that video hurts too much to watch, make fun of, or even pity. I don't want to see it anymore. I want it to just go away. Pearl Jam died in a plane crash years ago and this never happened.

I can think of no better combination of videos to arrive simultaneously than Happy Siruhns and Sleight Euuaahhah. It's a wonderful gift we have been given.

Sleight of Hand is generally performed quite well, though.

I haven't heard a decent live attempt at Sirens yet. Ed's vocals are invariably warbly and pitchy (even moreso than usual), the mid-song guitar changeovers seem complicated (just ask Ricky Ramone) and the song just generally doesn't seem to come together very well.

I can't imagine it will stick around in future live sets.
It did have a huge reaction at my show, though.
Sirens sounded great in Portland. No problems at all. Also, the Sleight of Hand video is painful, but that's cherry-picking. This band still knows how to kill it live, and they do much of the time.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z_ysKmcK ... re&index=5

I recall them nailing the rest of the new stuff at that show as well, which you can verify looking through my playlist that this Sirens vid is a part of. I know they have issues with some songs, and Getaway and MFS have been a challenge it seems, but there's a lot of ridiculous generalizing going on in this thread that is not really borne out by reality.

BTW, how do I post video?
