As a kid I always found a lot of inspiration in Robert Zemeckis's movies. But growing old in Wisconsin has taught me what a two-faced cunt he is. That scene with the shrimp! Totally unbelievable. There are a limited number of ways to prepare shrimp!! And most of the ways Bubba Gump lists simply are made up. (!) So I've decided I'm going to reshoot this scene tonight as I prepare dinner. I'll star as Forrest, the ghost in my apartment will play Bubba, and I'm substituting a block of cheddar for the net of shrimp. And I'm going to depict with Ken-Burns-grade verite what it means to live somewhere where your food staple has the versatility of Gary Sinise.
