Not as much as I should. An hour every other day at the gym is as much as I can make time for.Harry Lime wrote:Jorge works out?
To answer the thread question in earnest, I find listening to music while working out kind of cumbersome, and prefer to listen to audiobooks or podcasts.

Mostly post-rock. I like to kinda fall into a trance when running and like the moodiness that post-rock brings. I tried running to some Beats Per Minute formula once and found it distracting as fuck.
Also, I run with the volume fairly low so I can better monitor my breathing. I like to run with a specific breathing cadence.

I could see that. I do audiobooks during most commutes and I tend to listen to music that is more like background noise when I work out. I got through Chevelle's "This Type of Thinking" this morning, which is not something I would normally listen to but provided enough white boy rage to get me through my back/bi routine.theplatypus wrote: To answer the thread question in earnest, I find listening to music while working out kind of cumbersome, and prefer to listen to audiobooks or podcasts.

Re: Workout soundtracks?
I try to keep a playlist of about 50-200 songs that I randomly shuffle when I run. I'll start with around 50, and add stuff as time goes by until I get to around 200, and then I start a new one from scratch. I prefer to not know what the next song will be when I'm running for some reason.
Over the past few weeks, these songs have been really hitting the spot during my runs...
Our Perfect Disease - The Wombats
I Will Possess Your Heart - Death Cab for Cutie
All That He Wants - Kill Hannah
Somebody Told Me - The Killers
Capitalism Stole My Virginity - The (International) Noise Conspiracy
Adelaide - Meg Myers
The Last High - The Dandy Warhols
Blow My Mind - David Garza
Fineshrine - Purity Ring
We Sink - CHVRCHES
She Sells Sanctuary - The Cult
Banquet - Block Party

Re: Workout soundtracks?
I used to have a couple of set playlists for running. But, it become a little monotonous so I just hit shuffle on my whole music collection on my phone. This can be good and bad, because sometimes a shitty slow song will pop up when I'm on a good rhythm.

Kings of Leon has a lot of good songs to run to. I don't even really like them but Sex on Fire has a good running beat to it. I usually listen to Mad Season (Live at the Moore) or live PJ. I prefer longer songs, so the playlist is short.
