something about "big people" knowing about the "Yellow King" makes me think this run at Cohle being the killer is just a red herring. Either that or I like the character so much that I don't want him to be the killer. He took special care to protect lives and not kill anybody during the stash house raid when he could've done so to protect his own life.

The way they are doing the split timeline thing is just fucking perfection. Tons of cool cinematography in that episode.
Spoiler: show
Loved the line, "Nice to see you finally commit to something". After Marty blows the dude's head off.

I really really hope that Cohle isnt the killer. Not because of any particular affinity for him, simply because i feel like that will cheapen the entire series. First, it'd be very frality like, and second, it would be the "twist" everyone tried to guess since the first episode. I dont think it will be, and really hope it isnt.

I agree it's a red herring, but the dialogue went by so fast in that scene I may have to watch it again to really grasp all of the evidence against him. It's still possible that Cohle's entire life in Louisiana is an undercover investigation and that's why parts of his story don't line up.

I'd say there's more of a chance of Marty being part of some grand cover-up (perhaps because of his daughter getting into more trouble) than Cohle being the killer.

The shot of the kite or whatever in the tree in front of Marty's house kinda looked like one of those weird stick sculptures they keep finding.

I'm not even going to begin to ponder the outcome. Too much uncertainty right now. But Russ was talking to one of those "big people" in the next episode, I think?

No idea how this will end. Loving the ride. I don't want this season to end.

who cares how it ends. isn't weird fiction supposed to be about the imminent dread hanging over the proceedings?

My wife thought this as well.

On a side note, the shadows of the antlers in the trailer for #7 were awesome. Show has to be a lock for a cinematography Emmy.

I don't know. I'd bet he has gone rogue and is working on his own to find the real killer, especially if the killer has high profile friends and he cant go by the book anymore.

Seems kinda derivative for something so well thought out, but it's possible.

Cohle's not the killer. No way. In the preview for ep6 he's talking to Tuttle.

Off course Cohle is not the killer. The writer of the show has too much artistic integrity to cheapen the show with that hackneyed approach.

But the show is taking sharp turns in only 8 episodes. At first it felt like Seven, now it feels like X Files

I'm not sure if we'll ever be convinced who the killer is. I'm fine with that. This is a character driven show - the creator of the show is really doing what he can to separate itself from a standard outcome cop drama.
