I still enjoy this show - although it has lost some of its charm. Totally ready for Carl to get taken down.

Exactly. If this wasnt coming from those comics, i think i would like this show more. But the comics are wild and this is....just too much tv friendly.makeshift wrote:Show is weak compared to the comics. Very few episodes I like, yet I keep watching. Hoping.
Anyway, its a fun show and the new chapter was ok i guess.

If someone doesn't mind, could you explain some of the big differences between comics and show to this point? I have a feeling I'd much prefer the story sticking closer to the comics by the sound of it.

At what point does the repetitive nature of the show outweigh cool zombie scenes?

Which one?Biff Pocoroba wrote:At what point does the repetitive nature of the show outweigh cool zombie scenes?
The one where Michonne single-handedly kills more than attacked the prison in the aftermath of the battle, yet no one thought about doing that exactly the same thing and then grabbing all the guns and ammo afterwards, before fleeing?
Or the scene where Carl, who has repeated seen how easy it is to kill Zombies by having them walk in to pikes, insists on elaborately and moronically toying with them, ultimately wasting all his ammo and almost dying.. again?
Blah. Aside from the Michonne back story clip that episode was a complete waste.

Guess I could just read the plot for the comics from wiki.

do that. Its too long to explain...basically the comics are more wild. And fun.15showsandcounting wrote:Anyone? Bueller? I don't get the Michone zombie trick. Do the zombies know they don't have mouths and arms so they don't try to attack her? Shouldn't they keep trying? What is it about holding a rope attached to the zombies that keeps other from sensing she isn't dead? Can you walk quietly next to zombies and not be attacked or do you need a magic rope? She wasn't covered in zombie guts. Also why can you ingest zombie spit and blood but you only turn if they bite you? How can they be so brittle that a child can break a zombies bones with their bare hands yet a zombie is strong enough to tear apart a horse? There are a million dumb questions like this. It wouldn't be so bad if they had consistent rules they stick too. I hate zombie lore I don't know why I watch this show.

They explained it when she showed up in woodbury. Their scent masks hers, and because they can't eat they don't try. It essentially neuters them.

I have a lot of similar questions. And if this show doesn't pick up soon, I'm done with it. This first episode back was boring as hell. I was hoping like hell Carl would get bit. I'm sure many of us were.bada wrote:I don't get the Michone zombie trick. Do the zombies know they don't have mouths and arms so they don't try to attack her? Shouldn't they keep trying? Also, I read the plot for comics.

Re: TV: The Walking Dead
Here's my biggest issue with this show: why don't walkers die of starvation? That one carl found upstairs, for example, was clearly upstairs for a long time. I can suspend disbelief, but what the fuck? They're not feeding on other living beings to be mean. They're presumably doing it because it's a basic survival extinct, right? This show is pretty stupid.

Not according to Max Brooks - their digestive system and everything has shut down along with all their organs and junk - this is now just an instinctive reaction.daft twat wrote: They're presumably doing it because it's a basic survival extinct, right?

Why isn't their instinctive reaction to give hugs? I'm fine with zombies if its some voodoo magic bullshit then you just suspend disbelief and go with it but when they want to pretend it's scientifically possible and realistic I get annoyed. Yet I watch.

Re: TV: The Walking Dead
Fuckin kids. I hate these fuckin kids.
Beth's monologue was pretty sad.
Looks like they got people going every which direction. So we'll get the splinters from the prison getting their own stories for awhile, which should liven things up.
And that was quite the roundabout way to get Carol back in the picture. They coulda come up with something better.
