My old roommate Rick that Ed always hated sued him for trying to sell an old concert tape of Bad Radio's first gig. So I got dragged into that because I had the partial rights. . Me and Beth shot the video, so only me and her have rights to it. He really went over the line harassing Rick to where he had to move and hide out. Finally Jerry Garcia's old lawyer (yes, the Greatfull Dead Jerry) and took his case for free. Ed had his law firm taking up a floor in a high rise on it. David vs Goliath. It turned out that Ed didn't expect him to fight back. So the privacy laws, stalking harassment fibbing to a judge to get a search warrant etc had them in deep hot water. And Rick had provable damages. So they ended up settling, but I can't say how much. Eddie fired his law firm after that. Now how did I get on this tangent? This was about 2005-6. It got some national news coverage as well if you can believe that.

I wish that guy still posted here. He had the best pages on this thing. That "wore his boots" story is one of my favorites.McParadigm wrote:My old roommate Rick that Ed always hated sued him for trying to sell an old concert tape of Bad Radio's first gig. Eddie Vedder, the lead singer of Pearl Jam, is suing his former roommate over a videotape of some of his early performances.
Vedder says Rick Bird, his roommate when he lived in San Diego in 1990, is selling copies of a tape showing him singing with the group Bad Radio in 1988.
Bird denied the allegations and said he and another roommate, Michael Braithwaite, have returned all of Vedder's belongings.
"I'm not selling anything," said Bird, a San Jose, Calif., resident, in an interview. "We moved out in 1991. We told him we had them, and he never picked them up."
Vedder reached an agreement in December 2000 with Braithwaite for the return of belongings from their San Diego house, the Seattle-based singer said in his suit filed Wednesday in Superior Court in Santa Clara County, Calif. Some of the personal items had been auctioned on eBay Inc., according to the suit.
Vedder is asking the court to bar Bird from "selling, distributing, transferring or disposing" of the videotape. He also seeks damages equal to the value of the tape if it is not recovered.

I guess I'm underwhelmed, assuming the story as told by that guy is true, because of the recent news about Prince suing fans for sharing bootlegs. Still I'd expect some really nasty stories about him ruining Dave A's career or his ex wife's life to go with his reputation.
