The dunk contest has always had 1-3 good to great dunks and a bunch of failed/mediocre attempts. I think people are just nostalgic looking back at some of the earlier contests.

That being said, I think they could put it on hiatus for a few years and then bring it back. It would make people anticipate it a lot more.

I haven't really heard anybody say this, but isn't it obvious that the internet and the evolution of sports media has destroyed the slam dunk competition? We have access to amazing dunks all the time. Anytime there's a sick in-game dunk at virtually any level of basketball it's all over ESPN and all over the internet if you're on any sort of social media. What can these guys really do that will be so over-the-top exciting for the masses as it was in the 80s or 90s?

Do you guys remember those And1 mixtapes back in the 90s? We would watch those over and over and couldn't wait for the next volume. In other words, seeing guys do amazing things on a basketball court still had a bit of novelty to it. These days we are exposed to so much of it that it doesn't really pop the same way when there's a single event for it. I mean honestly, what would somebody have to do to make everybody really rave about the dunk contest? The guys dunk as well as ever, so IMO rather than this era of dunkers being inferior as a whole compared to earlier eras I think we are what has changed. We simply experience this event differently these days, and there is probably not very much they could do to get back the excitement it had in the past.

I hope the Suns don't trade Dragic. He's fun to watch. That Dragic + 2 first-round picks for Rondo rumor was fucking ridiculous.

I hope Rondo stays though BOS would probably have to do that deal especially if that Timberwolves pick happens after Love bolts. I don't see the Suns doing it though that guys pretend trades are just that.

If Danny Ainge were to pull this one off I think that'd be proof that he has some sort of demonic mind control powers.

Edit: I was initially going to wonder what KD would do tonight to one-up LeBron's game, but apparently the Thunder got an extra two days for their All Star break. Thursday night it is.

I'm hoping he fleeces Minn twice and steals Love for peanuts.

I'm a T-wolves fan and even I want to see Love play for a contender.

Kevin Love is going to the Lakers. Maybe not now, but eventually. Kevin Love is going to the Lakers.

Depends on the team they surround him with. He wants to be on playoff team. It's going to be hard to sign a lot of talent with Kobe's enormous contract and Love hogging cap space. The Lakers can afford to go over it but you still have to build a team.

Lol Pacers.

So, they've been going all out for this one seed while Miami has been treading water trying to get guys healthy all this time and they're only up 2 games? Lol.

They've definitely regressed a bit in the middle of the season. It has been cold in Indy.

the sixers just traded spencer hawes to cleveland for 2 2nd round picks

in the next two years, the sixers should have something like 37 draft picks.

I like their strategy given how much teams value picks after the new CBA. Let's see how they play it.

I would have thought Hawes could pull more than that. He's somewhat underrated. If all it took was two seconds I'm surprised a contender didn't grab him.

Have you seen him play defense? Granted, I don't the Sixers cared much, but still, no contender wants that.

i also expect the flyers to win the cup every year.
