Cross Country Skiing
I bought some skis with my christmas money, because I had find memories of doing it when I was younger. I also imagined I would be able to fly along the river I live near at a ridiculous speed. Needless to say the learning curve has been a little rougher than I thought, and honestly I just might need a bit more of an adrenaline sport to enjoy myself, but today was pretty good. It was beautiful standing in the middle of the river at dusk. Wish I had my camera. Anyone else mess around with this stuff?

I'm going to be messing around with snowboarding this weekend. I hope I don't break anything.

I don't even have any boots. This morning I stepped onto an old skateboard I have laying around. I figured it was a good thing to test my center of gravity before I go. If we even end up going. I dunno - we're trying to squeeze 3 days into 1. Ugh. Good thing the wheels need grease, or I'd have busted my shit all up on the tile before work this morning. So most of the day today I pondered how sharp ice is. Ice is sharp, Devin. SHARP. And well...avalanches.
I think I can do it, but I'm certainly not going to be shredding anything except my ass on the tiniest slopes I can find.

This might be the worst thread about sliding on snow in the history of the internet.

Yup. The only way to make this thread better is to bring in some ski bums.

The snow boarding didn't happen. Snowshoes instead. I think snowpants were overkill. Actually, any pants were overkill. The weather warranted the wearing of shorts.
Found some fantastic looking cross country skiing trails while out fromping around in the snow.

Gah! Hopefully is does start to thaw soon. The Platte in Wyoming at River Bend is breaking up and ice is flowing, I heard. It should start to feel warmer soon.Dev wrote:brutal cold again, I'm hoping this is the last week of it.. supposed to hit -40 again though (w/ windchill)
They were setting demolitions off on the river I used to live near in MI. Never had I seen that done before in my years there. It's so cold this winter.
