Nebraska. A charming little film. Possibly my favorite Alexander Payne has made.

Also remarkable how much it felt like something I'd find at an independent movie festival, save for the few name actors on the bill.

Never Sleep Again.

Amazing doc about the whole Nightmare on elm street series, it also includes Freddy Vs Jason, some amazing footage from the movies, interviews with their casting, fx crew, producers and directors. Made me realize how important this series is to me and how amazing and talented this people are.

Edit-but ended real abruptly.

I like Horrible Bosses WAY more than I expected to. Not really excited for the sequel, though.

Sanctimonious cheese.

I expected this, but I wanted to be surprised. How many more times do we have to see a black man or woman stare at a "White Only" bathroom door with such horror? Cue the heart-rending music!

I also would have liked to see the years in the league after his Christ-like defiance. The deal with Brooklyn owner Branch Rickey was that if the hot-tempered Robinson could turn the other cheek for his first three years in the league, then Robinson in the following years could follow through with whatever retaliation he saw fit. And he did retaliate, jawing back at the press and his opponents. The racism didn't quit at the end of the 1947 season. As you know it's still not over. This movie feels more insulting to the African American than anything else.

But I must say there were a few nice written scenes, but mainly for Harrison Ford as Rickey. That was another complaint I had. This movie is about Jackie Robinson and I barely knew the surface of the man.
