10 miles in 68 minutes
Hit the canal without the 20-pound pack OR a kid in a stroller. Felt great and just cruised. Awesome sunset again. Even split with a dinky finishing kick. Fucking great.

Re: The running/exercise streak thread
im pretty sure i havent ran/exercised every day since new years, but ive been doing it enough that if i dont run or lift weights i feel lethargic and shitty all day. thats a good sign.
also, running in socks on treadmill is awesome again. im over the foot pain and back to just dominating.

Saturday:
7.5 miles with 2,400 feet in elevation change in 63 minutes
Schedule was kinda fucked this weekend with various volunteer commitments. I hit my favorite trail sans 20-pound pack and felt spectacular. Pushed it, but wasn't really maxing out. Saw 3 snakes, a huge desert tortoise and an awesome sunset. Lovely.
Sunday:
10 miles in 1:44
Went to REI and got a new backpack. Put in 35 pounds of play sand and was floored by how heavy the fucker was. Hit the canal and felt miserable. Ended up just doing the shuffle that I do at the end of long races when I'm swimming in a sea of pain. Even split. Didn't really think going from 20 to 35 pounds was gonna suck this much. Fuck!

Legs are toast today. Feel like I ran a 20-miler yesterday. This race has my attention now.
Also, didn't realize it, but survivors of the real Death March meet you at the finish. That's fucking cool.

Re: The running/exercise streak thread
?? miles in 45 minutes
Ate about 5,000 calories today and drank a gallon of water. Also walked with some co-workers at lunch. Felt great when I got home, but resisted the urge to do another pack run. Warm AZ night. Drove to the Riparian Preserve and ran without headphones. The crickets and birds provided a great soundtrack. There are also no trail lights, so I was kinda flying blind for a while. After 10 minutes my eyes adjusted and it was fine. Wasn't about to fuss with the Garmin and count miles, so I just ran for 45 minutes. Strange running experience. I'll do it again.
Gonna limit myself to 3 pack runs a week. My body can't deal with that amount of pounding.

Thursday: Truncated Lower Body Workout A
Friday through Yesterday: 2.5 mile jog on the treadmill
As I suspected calories are a definite problem and actually affecting performance in other areas, especially work. Anyway gotta right that ASAP... nineteen days out.

Re: The running/exercise streak thread
yea....about this.
been experiencing lower back/butt/right leg pain. significant enough that it killed my streak. seems like a nerve. it really sucks. i thought that i would 'take it easy' and play some basketball at the gym a few days ago. big mistake.

Ran with the 35-pound pack in the NB Fresh Foams at the indoor track. Felt spectacular. Didn't bother to count laps again, but would guess I did about 10 and a half miles. Solid.

Late run last night. 19 out. 18 back. Loving the new NBs. Mellow run. 2-hour pack run tonight.
Strava is now out for Android. After this race, I'm looking forward to hitting the various PHX trails and seeing where I land on the leader boards.

Re: The running/exercise streak thread
12.5ish miles in 2 hours
Inside track run with the 35-pound pack. ASU basketball star Jahii Carson decided to play a pick-up game at my gym and the inside track surrounds the basketball area, so people stood and watch from the track. The workers did the best they could to make people leave, but I still ended up weaving in and out of people. Luckily he left after about 45 minutes and the place cleared out. I ate a gel at the 1:15 mark and switched directions (I was the only one on the track at this point). My pace was pretty consistent and I was kind surprised I didn't fade. 12 laps is one mile and I was doing 45 to 50 second laps, so I figure I ran about 12 and a half miles. Feels like this is some of the toughest training I have ever done. I'm glad the race is just 3 weeks away. 2 more weeks of training, then bring on the taper.

5 miles in 33 minutes
The company has started a health/active lifestyle initiative. I christened the treadmill in our new work-out room. They photographed and recorded it for the company newsletter and internal website. Vanity took over and I went a little faster than I normally would have. Awkward running on treadmill with a ton of people watching. They actually got a nice True and not some crappy Costco treadmill. Plumbing to the shower isn't finished yet, so I have spent the rest of the day stewing in my own filth.

Thursday: Shit ass Upper Body Workout in the morning, felt terrible, went to work, half-day, drove home, stupidly, with a wicked migraine. Only got up twice until the next morning.
Tonight: Solid ten miles on the treadmill. Covered the controls and just ran as I felt, I think the calorie boost will be a big help from here on out.

Busy day. The wife and I ended up childless after both older kids went over to friends houses and our babysitter wanted to take the baby to the first-time parent class she teaches at a local hospital. Ended up eating at a soul food place in downtown PHX we always wanted to try. Walked around for about an hour, then the wife wanted to do some shopping. I used Map My Run to map out a 5-miler, went back to the car to throw on my emergency running gear and off I went. Hit a shitload of traffic lights and stopped for some homeless people (I brought a fistful of ones). I love urban runs.
